They have zero consequences with Biden, and trump just requires some compliments to get the same.
So Israel is going to do whatever they want, including starting WW3.
And there’s not a damn thing any American can do about it.
Which will depress turnout, and could possibly hand trump the White House.
But fuck it, apparently the only two options are the two oldest presidential candidates in American history. And we can’t even make protest votes during the primary because that’s somehow voting for trump in the Dem primary
Israel simply doesn’t have the capability to do this shit on their own. They can’t wage lengthy wars without outside help; there’s a reason Biden has been selling them weapons.
They don’t listen because the UN has been trashing on them for 70 years due to the number of middle east countries in it throwing their influence around. The one thing nobody has bothered coming up with is an actual solution to the issues they’re facing.
And this is kind of the point I was getting at. There’s a lot of factors (geopolitical, domestic, religious) influencing the decision to make war, and they go beyond simple binaries like having US support or not.
The problem is geopolitics. We have to have Israel as an ally or at least they have to not ally with our chief foes. Israel is key to projection of power into the Middle East.
So we can use some soft power with them, but we can’t push them hard enough that China or Russia support them, because we know both of them give zero fucks about Palestinian genocide.
Is all of that true or is it flawed analysis? It doesn’t matter because the game is played like it is. Palestinians are fucked and there is nothing we as a nation are really going to do about it, no matter who is voted in or out. It’s fucking infuriating to see such evil in the world and to do nothing about it. But ask the Uyghurs how we are helping them against genocide. Ask the Kurds what good allies we are. No one got voted out of office over them.
We aren’t going to act decisively for fear of making things worse (perhaps justified - we did a bang up fucking job exporting freedom to Iraq).
Everyone says it’s geopolitics as if genocide hasn’t historically impacted geopolitics. Germany’s genocidal policies worsened US relations with them during and before both world wars, arguably leading to US intervention. Same with US-Japan relations before WWII. NATO intervened in Kosovo because of crimes against humanity.
“It’s geopolitics” doesn’t make politicians not guilty of supporting crimes against humanity.
I don’t think the genocide was much of an impact on US entry in world war 2. Not clear they would have without Pearl Harbor.
I’m not talking about their entrance into the war. Even before that US relations with the Axis were pretty bad because the US was very not okay with the nonsense they were doing.
I hope for 15000 children to climb out of their mass graves and start dancing around.
