I do not think Democrats have shown “you can work with them on some level.”

They have shown with their actions they would rather cede power to fascists than let genuine progressives win and have demonstrated proudly they learned nothing from the experience of doing so.

Establishment Democrats have proved without a doubt they will functionally do nothing to stop Republicans from gutting every social program that helps the poor except make purely performative statements about how against it they are. Same thing with Schumer and Jeffries with respect to “being against” the Iran War, they want this almost as badly as Republican lawmakers do.

I might go as far as to say German culture is the least capable of resisting fascism in Europe based on the last ~150 years of history. Which doesn’t mean all Germans are like that but Germany has a serious weakness towards becoming broadly enamored with fascism. (I live in the US, to be clear I see the US very similarly).

Of course Elon Musk is going to be popular with fascists in Germany. This is the same old shit over and over again.

I will say the idea of Germans buying shitty, badly made US cars because they are made by a company owned by an inept fascist is pretty funny in a dark way.

I know this is a strong reaction, but I stand by it, this is very important for the health of the Fediverse.

If I were part of the Fuck AI community on Lemmy World I would be concerned that once more and more news articles and journalism comes out about how some US tech companies were knowingly complicit in the Palestinian Genocide as a profit seeking venture I would be nervous that the Lemmy World team wouldn’t begin to become pretty uncomfortable with the Fuck AI community.

I would love love love if y’all migrated somewhere that was more willing to confront the ways in which AI has become a tool of obfuscation for complicity in a globalized system of violence that transcends the confines of any one single country.

The most important part is to take more time than you think to speak, everyone always thinks they need to rush as if they are an inconvenience with their words, trust me your words are worth the time it takes to say them slowly, no matter what words you choose.
