Honestly, I think this might be on to something. RFK jr was not always a lunatic - before he went insane he did some truly great things in his career. He then gradually made a turn for the worse, ending up as the mentally insane candidate we know today. It honestly explains his political platform pretty well.

Yeah, US cutting its unconditional support to Israel was overdue decades ago. Howevers, as long as the rest of the political landscape doesn’t follow, Biden acting unilaterally and publicly just amounts to political suicide with no gain for anyone.
Israel/US relations were at an all-time low under Biden already before the attack, and there’s every indication he’s using every back channel he has to make Netanyahu slow down his genocide. Sometimes diplomatic solutions are more efficient than a public Circus.
I think these people are more typically from troll farms than genuinely pro-Palestine, but some of theme probably are that stupid as well. I guess it’s a mixed bag.
I guess for now it’s misleading more than anything, as they say it’s the smallest of the three major federated platforms. That’s hardly precise as neither Threads nor Bluesky is federated yet.
Bluesky should federate at the end of the month though, and a bridge to activitypub is already ready. Interesting times ahead.
While this is seems a bit incompetent, it is easier for them to make technology less available than to fix the underlying issues here. They might set out to do both, but solving the underlying issues will take more time.

Like what the fuck, I couldn’t drop the year of any single thing in my life without thinking about it long and hard, and I’m 30 with no sign of dementia. It’s just not how I remember things, and I feel like most people don’t.
Of course - there’s a huge difference between a “real photo” and “objective reality”, and there always has been. In the same way an impressionistic painting might capture reality accurately while not really looking like it that much.
It’s not even a true statement. “A real picture of a pipe” has never once in history been interpreted as “my golly - there’s an actual goddamn pipe trapped inside this piece of paper”. We know it’s a freaking representation.
The “real” part refers to how it’s a product of mechanically capturing the light that was reflected off an actual pipe at some moment in time. You could have a real picture with adjusted colours, at which point it’s real but manipulated. Of course with digital photography it’s more complicated as the camera will try to figure out what the colours should be, but it doesn’t mean the notion of a real picture is suddenly ready for the scrapyard. Monet’s painting is still a painting.
Everyone knows exactly what you mean when you say a real picture. Imposing a 3D model over the moon to make it more detailed, for example, constitutes “not a real picture”. Pretending this is some impossible philosophical dilemma is just a corporate exercise in doublespeak.

This is different from passing normative judgment as to whether or not it’s a good thing: It’s a win in the same sense destroying the Supreme Court was a “win” for the previous White House.
I mean, whoever reads the article would also see that they did a similar piece on Trump, listing both positive and negative achievements of his presidency.
I think it’s a cool format. The media cycle tends to blow one single story out of proportions while neglecting anything else that happens, this is (imo) a good way to review some of what’s been happening the last four years.
