Typing your own code manually? Unheard of!
My living space is clean but looks untidy (male). I don’t keep things on shelves and cupboards (apart from clothes and books I’m not reading at the moment), everything (mostly tech and studying stuff) goes on the floor. It’s not unorganised, I know where everything is and I don’t just throw stuff on the floor, if something is in a place on the floor I put it there for a reason and NO ONE SHOULD MOVE IT. Expensive stuff that can break if it is stepped on and stuff I don’t want to step on gets placed near the edges of rooms and under tables. Once every week it all gets thrown on my bed (still organised) so I can clean but after that it all goes back on the floor.

Best way to run an instance for cheap is on your own hardware, but I would only do that if you are experienced with self hosting since it would require port forwarding (unsecure if done wrong)

2 hours long? Time to sit in my watch later for a month!

How old is the switch? There will be someone you can sell it to who will be willing to try and fix it just for an easily moddable switch.
(Also needing to buy a switch this close to the switch 2 must be painful… all the savings that could have gone towards it…)

From what I’ve heard about it, it’s because the default gtk style only fits in with gnome, and gtk4 made it really difficult to customise it and is also really buggy on anything not gnome.
That’s what I’ve heard anyway, I’m not a distro dev and the distro I last used is still on gtk3

There is !fedia@fedia.io but that place seems inactive. I couldn’t find a status page listed in their sidebar. When I was looking around it was very slow so it isn’t just a problem with you
One of my favourite game dev stories from the 1980s is the story of Elite. It was a game people thought couldn’t be made. Most devs thought hardware wasn’t powerful enough and publishers thought it wouldn’t be fun enough.
It was one of the first properly 3D open world video games ever made. I think when it released it sold nearly as many copies as there were home computers that could run it.
In order to make the game small enough to fit on a cassette tape they had to ditch basic and program the entire game, world in assembly.
There’s a fantastic video about it here: https://youtu.be/lC4YLMLar5I
Seriously, with views like his I don’t know how he ended up owning a place like tumblr

English, German and French. I don’t speak German or French but I am still learning German (my school forced me to learn French from when I was 7 to when I was 14, but it was taught to poorly to me until I was 13 that I dropped it as soon as I could and the only things I remember are the numbers)

!onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone is so happy and silly!

Today students pick keycaps off of keyboards and steal anything not tied down (so instead of just the ball, the entire mouse gets stolen). Once I heard a student ran off with an entire side panel of a computer
I can’t help you with most of the points, but you should stay hopeful and start forcing change with activism. With the climate change point, I reccomend this video, it is optimistic while staying realistic and addresses the problems that are a roadblock to net zero.

Is there anything people on the internet won’t claim they are an expert in?

Both times I went to Germany I was the only one trying to speak German out of a very large group, maybe they were happy to see someone at least try?

Germany is very nice, most people I met were more than happy to help my with practicing my German
One of the best campaigns I have ever played and definetly my favourite shooter.
