Servais@dormi.zoneOPto Europe@feddit.org•[Meta] Could we maybe consider something else than the EU flag for the community icon?English1·11 months agoSeems reasonable on desktop, people are usually not having to look at the icon so much, they just want a way to quickly identify which community it is
Mobile might be another story

As a comparison, the way !yurop@lemm.ee icon looks:
I guess the shape of the continent is unique enough to be distinguishable
FYI, there is now !europe@feddit.org
Servais@dormi.zoneOPto Europe@feddit.de•[Meta] Are there people who would like to take over the moderation of this community, and manage the discussion about where to move it next?English2·11 months agoThank you for volunteering!
Servais@dormi.zoneOPto Europe@feddit.de•[Meta] Are there people who would like to take over the moderation of this community, and manage the discussion about where to move it next?English6·11 months agoJust as an observation, I’m not sure we’ll get people. Good moderators are hard to find (I’ve been looking for some for !yurop@lemm.ee for a long time ), and this community will probably require more work to moderate as it will have a lot of news and political discussions. After all, there’s a reason poVoq was the only mod here.
Servais@dormi.zoneOPto Europe@feddit.de•[Meta] It seems that feddit.de communities are moving to feddit.org, is it going to be the plan for this one too?English1·11 months agoThe tankie cesspool is probably !europe@lemmy.ml
Hopefully there will be some people willing to moderate !europe@feddit.org, or !europe@lemm.ee, it doesn’t matter that much in the end

Lemm.ee is an English speaking European instance that could host the !Europe instance.
It is different in that regard compared to feddit.dk, feddit.org, feddit.UK, jlai.lu, feddit.org, I don’t think there is even an Estonian speaking community on Lemm.ee
All of the other instances named in the previous paragraph have a focus on their local language, lemm.ee does not.

It is, the same way !europa@feddit.de was German speaking

Servais@dormi.zoneOPto Europe@feddit.de•[Meta] It seems that feddit.de communities are moving to feddit.org, is it going to be the plan for this one too?English1·11 months agoTo be honest, I didn’t volunteer because it’s a news community with a large audience. Debates can get nasty, and that’s something I try to avoid.
I guess a lot of other people are in the same case, and why you were the only mod here
Interesting, thanks for sharing!
