    It’s weird to see Jeffrey Sachs be so on top of this conflict and calling it what it is considering he was the architect of “shock therapy.” You’d think he’d be supportive of this war, but maybe I do not know him that well.

          I get the impression that he was a genuine believer in the liberal system and that the west was a force for good. Then he saw how the west tried to destroy Russia economically, and he was horrified by that. He gave a number of interviews where he talks about this. It seems like this was the turning point for him because it made him realize that the goal wasn’t to help Russia transition to the western model, but to break and exploit it. Once he realized this, it was easy to see that the same pattern applies to all western interactions with the Global Majority.
