I think the funniest part about that spam message is they didnt even try to do a good picture. Like it looks like a screenshot of someone in a early morning zoom meeting about to fall asleep. If your gonna try and catfish why wouldnt you choose a better photo??
I have a terrible feeling it’s a compromised webcam.
I’m thinking, it’s an attempt to be more succesful with nerds like us? I gotta admit I thought it was possibly a real person the first time I saw it, I’m more than desensitized to supermodel looking asian pictures from when I was on dating apps and occasionally reddit. I’m guessing just a non horny, non model, claiming to be studying in STEM is trying to avoid the obvious red flags for people that know supermodels probably aren’t into them.
I mean, scammers aren’t exactly the smartest tools in the shed (but usually the toolest), but this one seems especially weird. Like, wouldn’t they at least notice this whole campaign became a huge meme at this point?
I suspect that’s kind of the point, or at least works in their favour. If you don’t know about it, you’re probably pretty new here and therefore a better candidate for a victim.
It’s of that they keep using different pics of the same person
