I hear you, but I don’t think it has much to do with religion at all. The people who voted uncommitted have families and friends who are being indiscriminately murdered day in and day out, and one of the people asking for their vote to stay in power has done just about everything he can to help the ones doing the murdering. Expecting them (as I used to) to just drop their feelings and vote for him anyway, just isn’t tenable when your family is being slaughtered.

I think they mean it’s because Jews think Palestine belongs to them, being God’s chosen children and all.

Zionists think that. Jews don’t necessarily, unless they are zionists who are also Jews

Zionists are Jewish. Or better said, you have to be Jewish to guide the Zionist movement.

unless they are zionists who are also Jews

This makes it sound like some Zionists just so happen to be Jewish, which is disingenuous, but I suppose you’re talking about supporters of Zionism (like Biden), which are not necessarily either Zionists or Jews.

Israel, the one currently ethnically cleansing Palestine, is legally a Jewish state, and Zionism is legally identified with Judaism, so since this is all being done in the name of Judaism I think it’s fair to say that on the surface, religion is mainly responsible for the decades of occupation and oppression, as well as the ongoing genocide.

Beneath the surface, though, I totally agree with you, and it’s a shame that these violent fanatics are ruining the name of Judaism.

That’s really not true. Plenty of powerful figures within the Zionist movement are not Jewish. Especially during the 1800s during the original spread of Zionism. Being Jewish is not a necessary condition of being a Zionist. Just as being White was not required to be a Segregationist in 1900s America, as Marcus Garvey and others demonstrate in various ways.

is legally a Jewish state, and Zionism is legally identified with Judaism, so since this is all being done in the name of Judaism I think it’s fair to say that on the surface, religion is mainly responsible for the decades of occupation and oppression, as well as the ongoing genocide.

This is all a conflation of issues and is intentionally misleading propaganda created by Israel/Zionists to create power and legitimacy. It isn’t actually true. Israel claiming to be a Jewish state and claiming to represent all Jews worldwide does not mean those claims are true.

North Korea claims to be a People’s Republic, despite not being a Republic or concerned with their People. The Holy Roman Empire was named as such despite not being Holy or Roman or an Empire. Countries regularly lie in creating national narratives to advance their interests. Israel is no different. They should not be blindly believed just as no state should be blindly believed in matters of national narratives - particularly when that state is an ethnostate.

Rhodesia and Apartheid South Africa claimed to see the world and their place in it from a certain perspective as well. Doesnt mean they were correct
