I believe the previous post was talking about Wake on LAN (WoL) and Wake on WLAN (WoWLAN) which are separate things.

I bought one of these for my wife and we she has unfortunately had to switch back to her other phone due to some bugs. It seems to fail to be able to make phone calls or maintain bluetooth connections frequently. She has never had an issue receiving calls though. I’m still working on trying to find a solution for her because her old phone is a Pixel 6a which Google just nerfed the battery into oblivion like they did my 4a. I swear they have it out for us.
This is true because Linux users know that daemons are something that you can rein in and perhaps restart on occasion.
As if I don’t have a stash of previously reinvented wheels to choose from in my personal code. Buuuut, who can resist reinventing the wheel for the 25th time?

1371·1 year agoWe watched it live in elementary school, most of the kids didn’t get what had happened right away. Our teacher was just standing there stunned until an announcement came on the intercom asking all the teachers to turn it off. They didn’t say anything to us, just tried to pretend like we didn’t just watch people blow up live.
I bought one last year and when I need to replace a TV, I will do it again.

It can be used to send money to people that don’t have a bank account. These people sadly exist, like some of my family. That said, being pressured to send them money by them lying could definitely be considered a scam :)

31·1 year agoGrapheneOS will feel very different, and quite a bit less of the “fun” customization options, since its goal is security.
From what I understand there are better dongles now than that they can perform better than the Apple dongle, but the one everyone raves about that was $20 - $30 or so is now hard to come brand is going for closer to $80 (I think it is the Jcally JM20 Max). I don’t see a reason to bother spending more money chasing this crap now that I’ve had to buy both my wife and I standalone music players. What I do know is that the first company that releases a decent phone that has a headphone jack that fits my other needs is getting my Money. If Fairphone has brought it back, it would have been them since they have decent ROM alternatives (though not GrapheneOS).

I believe this to a degree based on my personal experiences with being thought of as either a brilliant wizard or evil hacker for unimpressive things. It even would happen at different jobs until my current job where my boss is the opposite. he thinks that anything and everything is possible and should be “easy” despite being technically illiterate. His new AI obsession has made it so much worse. I actually miss the super annoying “OMG you can do that? You’re a wizard/hacker/demigod!” days.
