They did delete the posts, at least. Not great but at least an acknowledgement that maybe this isn’t a good look for the company.
Ah, okay. That makes sense. (Fwiw I’ve seen fascist types use 88 and 1488 outside the US, too. “88” is technically German. It can have begin meaning outside the US/The West in general, though.)
I’d still go with proton over Google. Google is also on board with fascism. Maybe not as enthusiastic about it but I’m not sure that’s a difference.
That said, looking for alternatives may be good.
That’s naive. I’m not ditching proton yet, personally, but this does shake my confidence in them.
The Biden government was targeting them, though. Kind of. Various companies were facing challenges from the administration. I think the difference is: If they suck Trump’s dick enough he’ll leave them alone. Biden was less likely to do that. Or probably that’s their view of it, anyway. Somehow big business seems to view Trump as a “rational actor” while they view Biden as the opposite.
Something something TOS Mirror Universe episode…
…88 is a red flag. Generally that’s a bad number.
We saw a very sophisticated attack on Linux earlier this year with the XZ exploit. That stuff is terrifying and the sort of thing people should be worried about. SELinux is tame, by comparison.
Paranoia (to a healthy degree) is good for information security professionals but drives literally everyone else crazy. I wish people would adopt more of that, though. Maybe we’d see fewer data breaches…
I had a very similar experience. Read about it. Mined a couple coins just to try it. Said “Well that’ll never go anywhere”. I think i still had them years later but by the time i remembered i couldn’t find where the wallet ended to. I think it’s gone, now.
I’ve had an ADP employer in the past and when i tried it prompted me for some additional personal info so this did not work for me.
Technically they didn’t fully rescind it. They rescinded it in some places but not others, and for some patients but not others. It’s just PR, they have no intention of actually changing things.
Elections were the deal. We’d vote for representatives and abide by their decisions rather than, y’know, killing people in the streets to change society.
When elections can’t change society, though. When the deal is broken, it’s back to the old ways.
Well this is going to go extremely poorly.
It’s also not automatically end-to-end encrypted (as i understand it) so it’s possible for those who aren’t tech savvy to set it up wrong.
She’s definitely going after the Republicans because they’re the ones who have the power to force this release. The Dems have no real impact as long as the Republicans vote as a bloc, which they are likely to do. This is basically a threat to people who might step out of line that their records might be next.
He hasn’t been found guilty of anything, yet, but that’s largely (imo) because the Merrick Garland DOJ has refused to prosecute and blocked attempts to independently figure out what the hell he’s doing.
I think it’s highly likely he’s guilty of sex trafficking minors and both the DOJ and the ethics committee know this.
If he had an “R” next to his name, no doubt.
I do self host a bunch of stuff but i really don’t want to run my own email :(
