I deleted my Reddit account of, was it 11 years? More? Anyway, sometimes I miss being able to comment there whenever I come across someone kind, or some idiot. But then I think, boy, morally, I feel better not partaking. Lemmy is the future for now. I’ll abstain from the cancer.

Oh shoot, so Spotify wasn’t down for just me? I thought it was because I was working remotely from basically the middle of the woods. Cool, good. I guess.

Also the object-verb and selection-verb paradigm just makes so much more sense compared to vim’s verb-object/-motion paradigm. Especially with the ability to have multiple cursors and selections. It’s so powerful.

I started with Emacs for about a year or two, then vim for about 10+ years, then neovim, then VS Code with vim bindings for a few years, then Kakoune, which was very interesting, then VS Code with Kakoune bindings, then the switch to Helix was very natural. Never looked back after about 2 years with Helix.

It’s basically everything I loved from VS Code but in the terminal. And all the keyboard goodness from vim and Kakoune, combined. It’s great.

Or still a vegan just not a chef that cooks vegan food.

When I got a well-paying job, earning me about 10 times as much as I did while working as a teaching assistant at uni. I realized I could afford more than renting a student apartment and cheap food. Buying furniture, an apartment, having kids, tech toys. A car.

Makes me feel independent and in control of my life, I guess.

Those parents seem pretty rotten. Either dodge this bullet and tell her it’s a bad fit, or, if you care about her, let her know that you don’t appreciate her parents talking to or about you in that way.

Her response to either one should be important to observe. She might reveal that she agrees with them, or that she thinks her parents are dumb for saying those things.

It’s ultimately up to you. But know this: you are way more successful than I was at your age. Nice job! 👏💪🫸🫷

Sometimes a man thinks he has confidence, but someone he cares about a lot could definitely upend that, especially at a young age.

Mine also mentioned it on the last company retreat. That it’s important to look into using AI tools and not get “left behind”. Old geezers who don’t code anymore who think this is something we want to work with.

I’m fine with using AI as some sort of dynamic snippets tool where I myself know what I want the code to look like in the end, and where you don’t have to predefine those snippets. But not to write entire apps for me.

I don’t even use regular dumb snippets. It’s so easy to write code without them, why should I dumb myself down.

Tried so many, landed on Sync, Boost, and Thunder. Sync main driver.

Gestures I have found are essential to the experience. So comfortable.

I don’t think I’d be able to have a full meal for breakfast. Some people just can’t bring themselves to eat a lot in the morning. I know people with diabetes who force-feed themselves in the morning for their life/doctor’s orders.

But yeah, I don’t like cereal since a couple decades, really. That’s breakfast for kids.
