costa rica legalized same-sex marriage in 2020, have free public education, a medicare-style public health, is full of wildlife protection, has freedom of expression and no military, and is relatively peaceful (more peaceful than most latin american countries, for sure). don’t know about employment and cost of living, though.
another option is uruguay which benefits from most of these characteristics. wildlife is not lush though, as most of the country is empty, flat steppes mostly used for grazing cattle and sheep.
Have you looked for book clubs, gyms, courses in your region?
In this case I could verify by seeing, asking around and peeking their Instagram. Small town thing.
This came to my mind right now: people within the age range I’m willing to consider (25-45) are more likely to be already married or dating someone.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some habits or skills that you've recently(or not so recently) learnt that improved the quality of your life or made things more fun?
7·3 个月前Eating better. Reducing carbs and eating more fruit and vegetables. I’ve had to give up some eating habits that I had before but I’m loving the results on my body.
My two cents on dating apps in general:
- I would rather have something that actually marks someone as willing to have a relationship instead of clinging to people that for some reason are not available; maybe I’m just lazy of knowing people, but on the other side it skips some hurdles and puts me on contact with someone I might have taken a long time to know, if at all;
- on the other side, dating apps really reward someone physically attractive or at least that uploads the best photos. I’ve met several people who in person are alright for me which I wouldn’t swipe if I met them in an app. Also, after I actually paid a professional photographer to shoot a set of me and uploaded the pics on apps, I received more likes in a single week than during my entire life, even though nothing fundamentally changed and I’m still the same.

just sayin’, russians had no qualms or juridical implications when they removed nicholas ii.

I’d agree on the sense that everything in argentine spanish can be said with thousands of curse words interspersed. ¡la puta madre que lo parió, boludo de mierda!
i’m not against killing per se. you can kill in self defense for example and be excused. people can kill in a war or a revolution and be excused. in a perfect world, of course, people wouldn’t have reasons to kill. i think the line is drawn if 1) someone massively kills or acts sadistically for chauvinistic reasons (i. e. for being part of a group of persons, not being of the right ethnicity or because they believe in some sort of pseudoscience, like anti-vaxers) 2) are or were in a position of power or high leadership 3) are at risk of returning to positions of power even after arrest (for example, they can be rescued from prison in a coup d’état by its supporters, or being pardoned by political shifts).
the regular serial killer such as manson or ed gein were not in real positions of power and were not at risk of returning to such positions, and could therefore be jailed forever. himmler, heydrich, eichmann, king leopold ii, mobutu, suharto, pretty much every latin american, african, european or asian dictator deserved to be judged with penalties up to the death penalty, and even some “democratic” leaders such us some british prime ministers and french presidents. not to say that i’m only restricting to right, i believe stalin, ceaucescu, enver hoxha and to some extent even mao should be defendants in processes that could lead up to death penalty.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which social media platform has done the most damage to people's mindset?
2·4 个月前The fact that Xwitter became such an echo chamber and that people there really started to believe that they were the moral compasses of humanity made it gain the appropriate nickname, here in Brazil, of “Black (in the sense of rotten) Banana Institute”.
I’m all against death penalty in any form, except perhaps for some fascist leaderships. There are those who deserve to dance the Spandau ballet.
i like this answer. i like the lore, but i don’t like how people try to change and shape the world in a way that fits it.
i’ve seen things i cannot give a fully scientific explanation to why they happened, and i believe there are things that are not currently explainable by current science. however i don’t take the explanations currently given by most religious, esoteric and magick groups at face value, and more so in their vision of how a society is to be shaped.
you know, installing some al-qaeda dissident on power but he’s totally fine now since he uses a suit.
