It kind of looks good on paper, but this might single you on the other side of a spectrum. Say, now you are that weird user running Firefox on Android - you give out some data, but with adblock you don’t see majority of it. With this tools, you kind of poison the data, but you could still get singled out because the bad guys just have more money to spend.

3·3 months agoShocking: Young people want to see what’s it like elsewhere.
Some Mediatek chips are doing this, that is bt audio cutting out while WiFi doing things. Nothing fancy, 1080p video on YouTube will cause that.

8·3 months agoI think most are made in China and just relabeled under some EU brand.
Looking at IKEA smart plug with “Made in China” on it…
As other said IKEA and Shelly devices are solid choices.
Either you’ll stick to one brand and live in their ecosystem or you’ll have 10 apps for controlling various parts of your home. This typically leads to HomeAssistant and Zigbee works great there.
If you want less DIY solution, then Loxone (Austrian or German) or perhaps Jablotron (Czechia). These will cost a lot lot more tho.
I had that on some lenovo many many years ago… also lovely.
Luckily an EliteBook I got maybe 2 years ago allowed me to fix a bug in a wifi driver that mediatek introduced. There were workarounds, but fuck that. Ax200 fixed it.
I recall having fairly trouble free run with GF 1060 on Fedora on a desktop.
However having an AMD cpu and nvidia dgpu in a laptop is a fuckin’ nightmare. Probably only Broadcom and Mediatek are more random when it comes to drivers. Good thing is that you can plop out a wifi card and get an Intel one for €20.
Edit: I also run Amd 6800 and 9070 in 2 desktops and that just work. I never had to care for drivers.

All my banking apps work on GOS. Flawlessly, well, except N26 which a bit unstable and crashes quite a lot. Nevertheless it works enough to be usable.
Donated again!
Maybe they are full of bullshit, maybe they aren’t. Google/Apple are way worse than this…

17·9 months agoHis party won, that was expected. They did not win by big enough margin and will need to negotiate with 2 other populist parties to have majority.
These 2 smaller parties have completely different programmes such as one is anti-NATO and anti-EU while the other has opposite ideology. Being populists, for either of the party this was one of the main topics and he will need BOTH make his government work.
Let’s see how this comment will age but right now it doesn’t seem so bad.
How about something sized as iPhone SE or smaller? This just looks like a mediocre brick that already exists on the market.

It’s difficult to understand the move against custom ROMs. Especially considering the size of market for “weridos” that will spend hundreds of dollars on a device and first thing they do with it is unlocking bootloader.
Take that away and you go head to head against Samsung and Apple. And you will not win.

Well that was a problem in early '00. Lucky to have a PC at all. No internet at home and my freshly installed Mandrake, SUSE or whatever I was messing with booted to a black screen.
I reinstalled Linux a lot back then.
I was running a privacy oriented profiles on FireFox for years and kind of gave up recently.
You lose a lot of functionality and still get singled out because of some random property that is unique to your system.

Dual wielding can be PITA especially with current phone sizes. Nevertheless I’m doing it. In my case it personal life vs work.
Gos for personal stuff with multiple profiles. I’m now trialing Google devices in a private space on a primary profile. That way I do not have to switch to a second profile that often.
If something does not work on Gos, I don’t use it and if I really really really need that, I have a iPhone for work.
