They didn’t go to the UK because they’re already wanted there. It’ll be fun now if the Brits try to extradite them from the US and the Trump administration interferes…

I love it. They’re more expensive than kindles, though, since they’re not subsidizing their cost with ebook sales. I haven’t actually tried jailbreaking a kindle so I can’t say how good an experience that would be, but you could probably pick up a kindle of some description on the used market for dirt cheap to try it out.

st3ph3n@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Kindle Is Making It Harder to Switch to Rival eReader Brands.English5·2 months agoThis is why I have an Android e-ink device. I can put the kindle app on it for anything from their shitty walled garden, but I also can put pretty much anything else I want on it too.
st3ph3n@midwest.socialto Europe@feddit.org•Trump announces tariffs on EU in retaliation to VATEnglish7·2 months agoIt’s fucking stupid. Most EU countries charge VAT (value added tax) on pretty much everything you buy. It doesn’t change based on where the product is made or anything, so it is a level playing field, therefore I don’t know wtf Cheeto is attempting to achieve here.

st3ph3n@midwest.socialto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•As a passenger in the car, whats the things a driver does that pisses you off, makes you uncomfortable, or terrifies you?English102·4 months agoMotherfuckers who turn their head to talk to others in the car while they’re driving. Keep your eyes on the road, dumbass.

He lives in the south, votes for Trump, and has a wife, two daughters, and a son. His wife has had a couple of complicated pregnancies that, had they happened now in the place they currently live, could well have resulted in her death. His attitude when asked ‘what if one of your daughters gets raped?’ is to say he can just fly her somewhere else to get an abortion, because he has money. Fuck you, dude.

HVAC and lighting and such should all be physical switches/buttons/knobs.

It hadn’t failed yet but was in a predictive failure state due to the amount of bad sectors it has accumulated. 3 other disks in the same giant raid array are showing some bad sectors but not enough to be over the ‘replace me now’ threshold.
They costed less back when the competition was the IBM PC, which cost as much as a car back in the 80s. Hasn’t been true for decades now.
I think the ones in that lot were sitting there waiting for recall work to be done before they could be delivered to
suckerscustomers.

When the battery health gets shitty the software automatically switches it to slowly trickle charge to preserve it, although you can go into the settings and re-enable the previous fast charging.
My SE is currently at 75% of its original battery capacity. I put it on at 8AM this morning after charging it all night, tracked one workout during the day and it is now almost 10PM and it is at 16% charge and dropping fast.
My school used to actually glue them, as in glue the part you would remove to get access to the ball. So the mouse still worked, until enough gunk got in there that it didn’t any more, then someone has a fun time trying to find the right solvent to dissolve the glue without killing the mouse.
