This seems particularly dumb, they didn’t look at the disastrous “remain in Mexico” policy across the pond and realize it’s unrealistic?
Also, Albania is an EU membership candidate undergoing accession negotiations so like, what? These super expensive facilities aren’t gonna be “outside the EU” forever
DW isn’t actually banned from broadcasting in Germany but I don’t believe they broadcast at all anymore, since the target audience is international. But regardless, yeah they are a high quality channel with factual reporting.
DW and BBC are both publicly owned news organizations with good reputations for high quality reporting and journalistic integrity.
This one made me burst out laughing, very creative
Pretty sure this is the same as every other messaging app - metadata is never protected information. The contents of the messages may be encrypted to some extent (which on Telegram they are, not end-to-end as with iMessage, but they’re not plain text), however your IP address, username, etc are subject to subpoena on any messaging platform.
The article uses the phrase “key outdoor areas” so I would assume this means you can’t smoke in a crowded plaza but you can still do so on your own balcony or whatever.

Yeah I mean ignoring the politics of it, people don’t want shells raining down on their heads. So if you’re Russian., the logical move is to go eastwards deeper into Russia. Of course it’s doubtful many of them sympathize with Ukraine in the first place.
So that basically means that Firefox and Safari are the only two unaffected, since it seems like everything else is Chromium these days. Yikes.
He did very publicly oppose Brexit. Good to see he’s trying reset the relationship now that it’s happened.
€1.25m doesn’t sound “ultra rich” to me. It sounds like a successful small business owner. €100m, sure.
Wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and… smell the ashes.
Found the German! The English equivalent of “der Zug ist schon abgefahren“ would be “that ship has sailed”. Which is pretty funny if you think about the geography of the UK versus the German speaking realm.
I added a sticky to this one redirecting people to the feddit.org board. I don’t want to delete it immediately as not everyone here is necessarily subscribed there, let’s give it a bit of a transition window for people to notice before I delete the sub.
Is there a need to close it? Not really hurting anything?
Makes sense, Switzerland wouldn’t want to accidentally do the right thing.
