What’s the difference between tankies and the far left?

Not really, that’s just something leftists say to lash out because they’re mad that liberals aren’t progressive.

Yep. But I’m not sure what Centrism is, exactly.
In America’s Overton Window, Centrism typically means Classical Liberalism, while eschewing far-left mindsets like Marxism.

People’s first impression tends to color how they view something. Fair or not, the first Mastodon instance you join tends to affect your view of the software, and the Fediverse as a whole.
If people tell you to join a social media website, and you get treated poorly when you join, why would you want to stay on that website’s social network?

Because Mastodon is a predominantly leftist platform, they’ll always be doing stuff like this.

Not on my work computer, my company doesn’t let us run Ublock Origin or anything like that.

Well, I’m not gonna click the link if it’ll participate in a DDoS attack.

I use Photon. It’s great.

I can’t remember if it was No Agenda Social or its successor No Authority Social, but I am quite sure that both are included in their blacklist.

Technically, they all fall under those rules in places like the EU already, those rules just aren’t being enforced.
Long-term, the Fediverse isn’t a social media platform, the instances are platforms, and they just connect to each other. I’d only expect enforcement on the few instances that are “large”, like a million users in size or more.
If instances choose to comply, either by capping users or shutting down, it could be good for decentralization of the network.

Yeah, it sucks! I used to use Moshidon until they blacklisted the only Mastodon instance I use lol
I asked the dude who made it to fix the blocklist and he said no

Did you reply to the right comment?

Haha! Now y’all know how it feels lol.

Not too long ago, some Lemmy users had to let Reddit refugees know that karma isn’t a thing on the Fediverse. People were making posts and deleting them after getting downvoted so that their karma wasn’t affected lol.
I don’t think that’s what’s happening here, but people deleting their posts after making them isn’t terribly unusual.

What’s RIF?
I didn’t even know that there was a Fediverse alternative to Pinterest. That’s enticing.

They can certainly self-host, it doesn’t mean you have to join those instances. Them making those instances would be good for adoption.

I’d like to see better interoperability, more bridges to other platforms, and more adoption, especially from people who claim to hate X or Elon Musk so much.

Theoretically, one could use Fediverse software to make standalone forums and/or social media platforms. However, not many have done this. Truth Social is the only one that comes to mind.
If you’re interested in running your own, I think you should be able to pick any Fediverse software you choose, install it on a server, and run it in a whitelist mode so that it doesn’t connect to other instances.
If your concern is random people being able to read and scrape your posts, I know that some Pleroma instances are also configured to not allow any pages or profiles to be public-facing, instead requiring a login if you want to visit anything other than the landing page (and even then, this restriction sometimes prevents any content in the feeds from loading when you are on the landing page).
Interesting. I use “leftists” as synonymous with “progressive” or, perhaps more accurately, “marxist”. So I would never call a Liberal a Leftist, for example.
Interestingly enough, the Tankies as described by you here remind me more of the Neoconservative center and right, I have never associated such types with the left in my mind at all.
