Technology@lemmy.world•This is Android's new 'advanced flow' for sideloading apps without verification, includes one-day waiting periodEnglish
15·26 days agoYou do realize that what you’re saying might’ve been the goal all along? It’s literally an “I’m altering the deal, pray I don’t alter it further” vader moment and you’re saying you’re relieved. Make no mistake, you, me and every single Android user was just fucked over and it’ll only get worse.

31·27 days agoI sincerely doubt that will actually come into fruition. There’s no way to force all linux distros to have that. At least I hope there isn’t.

7·27 days agoWhen has your imaginary scenario ever been a problem? Can you name a single example where that has happenned? Stop making excuses for corporations fucking over their users.

1382·27 days ago“Not quire as bad”? My dude, you have to ask for permission from a corporation to install an app on your phone that you supposedly own and paid for. On what planet is this not awful?

103·1 month agoApparently Kling was against using “they” instead of “he”. While I do agree that it’s wrong and gender neutral terms should be used, I wouldn’t “cancel” the guy over it. Afaik they are using gender neutral terms now.
The other stuff about Kling mentioned at the bottom of your link is worrying though. It’s a shame a project as important and necessary as Ladybird was created by a person like him :(

54·1 month agoCan you provide an example of this non-inclusive language? I honestly can’t even come up with an example for web browser documentation that would refer to any gender at all.

1512·1 month agoI did not know about the AI stuff. However, I do think that the “inclusion” controversy is way overblown. Why in the world would you need to have “gender inclusive language” in the docs for a browser engine?

71·5 months agoSo you think that they’re not using your data simply because they’re not telling you that they are? Don’t be naive. Since when are these companies asking for permission? I’m not even confident opting out does anything. At this point, your safest bet is to not use their services.
