“They are hurting the wrong people.”
And if they say “yes”, if they are blatant and transparent about their business model, that will somehow make it better? This idea of “putting sunshine on a problem” never actually solves anything. The problem company just comes back with “Yeah? So? What the fuck are you going to do about it?”
Why ask when you know the answer is yes?
If the product is free, you are the product. Even when it’s not free, you’re still the product because data is too valuable.
Why does the most reasonable and balanced take have the most downvotes?
This is absolutely the journalists’ fault. It doesn’t matter if its AI-generated or not.
“Tries” implied they failed. Is this provision still on the table?
That’s precisely what I was comparing it to. Transporting somebody in a car for 15 minutes is much different than providing housing, a bed, and a livable space for a week.
I can barely trust some rando to drive me around to a destination in the city. Why would I trust other randos to let me rent and use their house? And not break housing or safety laws in the process? It is 100x more complicated than just driving me from point A to point B.
Then there’s the questionable population size of the study
Which is the problem for 99% of all studies I see on the news.
People will just post their real name on Facebook. It’s crazy!
SnoopSnoo was able to pick out phrases from Reddit posters based on declarative statements they made in their posts, and that site has been down for years.
The biggest trick the rich ever pulled was fooling the public into thinking copyright benefits everybody. It doesn’t. It only benefits them. It will only ever benefit them.
The artists with power want to keep that power and make sure they are still above the other 99.999% of artists who are forced to give it up and do it as a hobby because it doesn’t pay the bills.
They are the true gatekeepers. This is what an incredibly oversaturated industry does to the ones lucky enough to make it.
Unfortunately, they are willing to sacrifice everybody else’s future in this tech to do so. Short-sighted assholes.
They should rename themselves to Business Balls Deep Insider.
Agreed. This kind of debate is about as pointless as declaring self-driving cars are coming out in 5 years. The tech is way too far behind right now, and it’s not useful to even talk about it until 50 years from now.
For fuck’s sake, just because a chatbot can pretend it’s sentient doesn’t mean it actually is sentient.
Some large tech companies didn’t want to compete with open source, he added.
Here. Here’s the real lead. Google has been scared of AI open source because they can’t profit off of freely available tools. Now, they want to change the narrative, so that the government steps in regulates their competition. Of course, their highly-paid lobbyists will by right there to write plenty of loopholes and exceptions to make sure only the closed-source corpos come out on top.
Fear. Uncertainty. Doubt. Oldest fucking trick in the book.
Same here. Bowie had a weird thing for jumping on various trends over the decades, but sometimes he ended up with an era I liked and produced bangers.
Outside was an outstanding concept album released prior to Earthling, with a great outro song for the movie Seven. Hours and Heathen were both good albums around that time, too.
It used to be socially acceptable to ask a stranger for their phone number. Some would agree, some wouldn’t and I’d thank them for their time.
I tried this in 2019 at a restaurant and got a look like, “wtf is wrong with you?”
Maybe at a bar, but I’ve never heard of that in a restaurant. It also depends on the context, too.
I thought setting a column to string only was already possible.
This is why I have little respect for most of the art community. There are some exceptions that are just doing it for the love of the work and producing unique styles. But, mostly it’s just boring, overdone bullshit being sold for 500x what it’s worth, or artists sabotaging themselves to get ahead, or artists shitting on their own audience, or all three, or everything in-between.
As the industry has been growing increasing oversaturated for decades, centuries even, the toxic egos have been more and more pronounced. And I am definitely not surprised this guy got popular on the cesspool that is TikTok.
Which is why there is zero point for Democrats to try to appeal to Trump voters. They are a lost cause, stuck in a cult. When they decide to get out of that cult, sure, we’ll welcome them back into sanity.
