He’s got a good chance of being the least worst president so far. It’s a low bar, tbh, but still. Anyway, here’s to hoping he surpasses that :D

Depends how much propaganda they’ve ingested.
From my own research, there’s two things that people are holding against him:
One is his refusal to sign the authorization for the building of a children’s oncology hospital (his explanation was that they want to build it in the center where there’s barely any parking and it’s overcrowded as it is, and he finds the location illegal for approval, he’d have no problem with a different location), after some increased pressure, he finally signed.
The second being the issue of (hot) running water in Bucharest. An acquaintance has actually spoken to an employee of the hot water supplier and apparently the 60 or whatever year old plumbing that was being used was in horrible shape and it really needed changing. To me that seems more of a problem that has been ignored by previous administrations and should never had been allowed to reach that point. Imo, it’s actually a point in his favour that he had the balls to cause so much trouble for the people in order to solve the issue.
Beyond that, he’s praised for fighting corruption and stopping illegal constructions that had ties to some mafia and whatnot.
And lastly, a few years ago, we had a referendum to amend the constitution to change wording from “between spouses” to “between man and woman”. Same sex marriage isn’t legal in Romania, but this was an attempt to make it harder for the law to change in the future. His party wanted to vote on which stance to take or something like that. And apparently he had promised when he was elected to remain neutral arguing that it wasn’t an issue that needed debating and that remaining neutral would avoid division. He said he won’t renew his party membership if his party takes a stance and since they did he’s since been independent. And whenever he was asked about his vote he said he voted but not which way. My guess is that he’s pro same sex marriage but knows that admitting it would cost him a lot of votes since Romania is still very conservative, as proven by the millions that voted for Georgescu last year and Simion this year.
I think he’s taking a page out of trump’s book and is gonna claim stolen election and stuff.
Obviously their FM frequency would be 88, something, wouldn’t it?
Fair, but according to that page, it was 3,4% of total consumption in 2020, 2,8% in 21-22 and 1,7% in 2023. So all in all, pretty good, I’d say. And over 92% of the energy they produce is low carbon or clean according to this
Better than most, I think
Nah, but it’s France, it’s cool to hate on France because somehow they’ve got this reputation for being assholes. And sometimes they are, but there’s assholes everywhere. Even in Thailand, the land of smiles, I’ve had bad experiences with people.
Known bootlicker. They’ve been spewing pro russia bullshit since I’ve joined almost 2 years ago.
Grazed thigh. So most likely learned nothing and will discipline the dog instead.
Hey, so I’ve got no horse in this race and also not a native English speaker so please bear with me.
To me the op’s statement sounds ironic, but not really a projection. According to google, to project is to unconsciously attribute your thoughts/feelings onto someone else. Like if you’re having an argument and you’re losing and as a self defense you claim that the other party is angry and or unreasonable or whatever.
In this case the cybertruck owner says the guy shaming him should be shamed. He doesn’t realise that it’s him who should feel shame, so it’s ironic.
Am I missing something? Or was it all just some joke and I’m just overthinking it?
Or is the guy being downvoted because he’s being an ass, not because he’s wrong?
That feels unnecessarily harsh. Especially since music is subjective and he’s purposefully not using his greatest skill, the electric guitar… and while I’m not a fan of the nightwatchman stuff, the music itself isn’t bad, just not my cup of tea. Also, the Audioslave stuff is great too, not just RATM. That’s already two hugely successful bands, which is 2 more than most artists.
Well, I guess we’ll see. Maybe she’ll do good as he claims
Yes, in the context and ignoring everything else, sure, I agree. But to me, it makes no sense how someone could believe that republicans are somehow pro big business but anti big tech. Talking about these things as if they’re unrelated doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe I’m just missing something, I guess.
Ok, maybe he wasn’t praising republicans as a whole, but he did praise trump for picking a big tech lobbyist in a job in which he claims to want the opposite. “Great pick!” is a praise, you can’t deny that, can you?
“Two bills were ready, with bipartisan support. Chuck Schumer (who coincidently has two daughters working as big tech lobbyists) refused to bring the bills for a vote.”
That’s their official account complaining about the guy’s daughters being lobbyists, not even him directly. Why is the appointment of Gail Slater, who worked the internet association (big tech lobbyists) and fox corporation, a great pick?
Why say “big business” and not “big tech” then if it’s just tech?
When you’re praising republicans as being the party of the little guy, that’s more than agreeing with 1% of the stuff that they’re doing.
They’re praising republicans as being the party that helps the little guy. Not just tech.
Have we read the same article? Because that article simply claims that Romanians have an air of superiority and that it was a banal drawing and then lists a bunch of reactions from some Romanians and also brings up the fact that Halep is of aromanian descent, despite it being irrelevant. Unless they think aromanians and the romani are the same people, which they’re not. Sounds unapologetic and no explanation given for the reinforcement of the romanians = gypsies stereotype.
They could’ve at least framed it as a “le monde” title or something to imply that it’s the media framing her as such… there’s nothing there to imply those are other people’s words…
So I can make a comic of Obama with some fried chicken and some watermelon at a desk with a plaque that says POTUS and just be like “it’s a joke! I’m making fun of the racists!” ? That doesn’t sound right to me, but whatever.
What was the satire here, then? How is portraying her as a gypsy anything but racist?
So you are… Checks notes 2200 miles away from the border. I feel like even if we disregard them voting for trump and just judge them based on that being their main voting issue, they’re dumb as fuck, aren’t they?
