Fuck him, all his ilk and the greedy, myopic, ignorant goddamned boat they rode one.

SEA and Astrum
Can confirm. The one thing that bugs me about Astrum is the clickbaity titles (along the lines of “The Image That Shocked NASA Scientists!”, that sort of thing), but don’t let that turn you off and away, the content is solid and the tone is much more grounded than those stupid faux-populist titles, which I’m sure the author chooses to gain traction with YouTube’s skewed algorithmic tyranny.
Another channel I’d love to add here is ParallaxNick, who does astronomy and science history videos, this man is a poet and a scholar, deserves a million subscribers and more.
niktemadur@lemmy.worldto Europe@feddit.org•Zelensky willing to give up presidency in exchange for Ukraine Nato membershipEnglish12·4 months agoOf course. He’s not a power-hungry parasite. It’s apparent on first and ten thousandth glance that he is a decent human being and you can tell, carrying on with dignity, compassion and a sense of humor. Which baffles and infuriates any and all stunted shitheads lacking in those three traits, wallowing in the sewage swamp of their own inferiority complexes. Such as the midget pig and the orange pig, to shoot pigs in a barrel, so to speak.

niktemadur@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you enjoy eating that other people think is super weird?10·5 months agoThis one might be a little different.
I eat only once a day, but it’s a big one, right before bed.
When I order takeout from… say my favorite burger place in town, usually a double cheeseburger, I ask that they apply no mayo, mustard nor ketchup, as I will reheat it all on the air fryer/toaster oven then apply condiments, don’t want the bread to be getting soggy for hours before dinner.I also tell them to put the lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on the side, for the same reason. I bring my own reusable containers for the separate things, to create no plastic/styrofoam waste. That includes tiny ones for the dressing and for the runny cheese for the fries.
Which reminds me of the fries - back home, hours later, I will refry them for a minute or two, they come out almost as good as new.
But this all being home, I can also play around with the burger. Such as stuffing it with a full onion, thinly sliced and caramelized on low heat with olive oil, pepper and a dash of Lawry’s seasoned salt. Maybe also sliced mushrooms sautéed in butter. I’ll also add a few extra slices of yellow heirloom tomato.
One last thing: while the onions are caramelizing on the toaster oven, I’ll also put another tray with a handful of asparagus in olive oil, pepper and garlic salt.
Like a friend described it, I like tuning the burger!
As in “car tuning”, custom burger mods.

niktemadur@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the wrongest thing a teacher ever told you?11·5 months agoWhen our classmate stood at the front and read it from a piece of paper the following day, we were all already tuned out of that class for the rest of the semester, I wasn’t paying attention. In fact, I might be remembering the name wrong, I can’t be certain.
niktemadur@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the wrongest thing a teacher ever told you?18·5 months agoThis one is a little different. On the first week of some college introductory economics class, the teacher was basically just reading from the textbook we all had, some historical figure who was a member of the “Council Of Seven” or something like that, when a student raised her hand - “Ma’am, what was the Council Of Seven?” - the teacher paused, and said - “Can you bring it tomorrow, as assignment?” - and actually giggled. This was in the 90s, pre-internet, looking up something like that was not a trivial task.
The teacher might have thought she was being cute and/or deflected her own shortcomings, but the actual effect was that we immediately lost all respect and trust for her, no one ever raised a hand again in her class, we all immediately went into rote robot mode for the rest of the semester, disengaged on a gut level.

Cup O Gold, it has a creamy coconut center.
I went for something like two decades without it, imagine my surprise at suddenly eyeing it at the Fry’s Electronics checkout line!
To this day, I find it at the Smart & Final market chain.
niktemadur@lemmy.worldOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What food or item/brand did you use to love, but isn't around anymore?1·5 months agoOh, you just reminded me of one.
Back in the 90s and up until the early 00s, at diners I used to ask for a Dr Pepper and when the waitress said - “is Mr Pibb okay?”, I’d answer - “even better!”
Then they changed the formula and name to Pibb Xtra or some stupid thing like that.
niktemadur@lemmy.worldto Album Art - Share your favourite music album cover@lemmy.world•Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma (2010)5·6 months agoHas the vibe of an 18th or early 19th century astronomy; before photography the only way to register what they saw was with sketching materials by their side. Peek through the eyepiece, turn to the paper and draw a bit, eyepiece again, draw a bit more, over and over again.
Take away the dark spheres, and this one looks a bit more like observing an eclipse for its’ duration, committing it as best as possible to visual memory, then doing the drawing immediately after, in one go.
Pray with me.
