nialv7@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump urges Americans to work harder despite spending 22% of term golfingEnglish1524·16 days agoI hate articles like this. You know weekends are 28% of days right? Can we report on real crazy shit Trump has done instead of these performative outrages?
by that definition do vegans have to grow their own vegetables? you know, capitalism and exploitation of labor and such.
What is it then? A complicated messenger?
You know the system is fucked when people who seek to maximize profit for themselves while making everyone else’s life worse is rewarded, whereas projects like Matrix, which is clearly a public good that benefits the society, struggles to get funding.
Yeah they have the rights to do it, doesn’t mean it’s a good thing to do, doesn’t mean it won’t negatively impact the future of the project.
Redis had the rights to change the license of redis, look at where that led them.
I did say “general purpose”. And many proof assistants are Turing Complete actually, such as Lean.
It’s not what you can use that language to do - all general purpose languages are Turing Complete, so what you can do with them is exactly equal. It is about what the language will do for you. Rust compiler will stop you from writing memory unsafe code, C compiler cannot do that.

That 44 million dollars went from the hands of one Russian into the hands of another. And it even counts towards their GDP. On the other side, 12 Ukrainians are dead. Think about that. Depopulation, especially of working aged people is what’s really going to hurt your economy, not spending money on weapons.
As a sidenote, politicians often want you to believe that you can’t have nice things because “there isn’t enough money”. That is just bullshit.
Quite sad the amount of downvotes you are getting, it’s like the dem supporters haven’t learned their lesson yet…

When everyone worship the corporations, the non-believers stand out.

nialv7@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Brian Eno: “The biggest problem about AI is not intrinsic to AI. It’s to do with the fact that it’s owned by the same few people”English22·3 months agoThat’s… just not true? Current frontier AI models are actually surprisingly diverse, there are a dozen companies from America, Europe, and China releasing competitive models. Let alone the countless finetunes created by the community. And many of them you can run entirely on your own hardware so no one really has control over how they are used. (Not saying that that’s a good thing necessarily, just to point out Eno is wrong)

When they switched to in house tech they gradually ditched the radar and sonar which made no sense to me. But at the time I saw their lead say in an interview that this is superior and I believed. not anymore.
they said doing so cut costs but obviously lidar/radar/sonar only gets cheaper over time, let alone the extra r&d costs because a vision only system is much more difficult to develop.
nialv7@lemmy.worldto Europe@feddit.org•Elon Musk makes surprise appearance at AfD event in eastern GermanyEnglish34·5 months agoSigh, here we go again. Many people didn’t try to understand what I meant by context. No I wasn’t talking about the context of Elon doing a fucking Nazi salute on inauguration. Every one saw that on the news. I was talking about the context of seeing the photo of Elon Musk’s Nazi salute being projected onto the side of a building.
That’s what was shared here, not the news article about it being a protest, not the video released later by the protesters (which is worth watching btw). So yeah, I stand by the claim that that photo itself can be taken out of context and be made to look bad. And in fact it is, I’ve seen far right assholes calling it based, and Germany is currently investigating it for its use of Nazi symbolisms.
Is that enough? That’s not even the main thing my comment was about. What’s even the point? Neo-nazi is on the rise in Germany, and broadcasting Elon doing this shit will embolden them, and you want to talk about context.
So fine, downvote me. I’m depressed to see people on my side can’t even muster two brain cells to think.
nialv7@lemmy.worldto Europe@feddit.org•Elon Musk makes surprise appearance at AfD event in eastern GermanyEnglish687·5 months agoWell, I was downvoted hundreds of times and being told by someone I had the “most moronic opinion” they had ever seen, just because I pointed out there are people in Germany who will celebrate Elon Musk doing the Nazi salute.
Do you believe me now? I am so tired of this shit. Our world is going up in flames and somehow I still need to be ridiculed by someone who I share most of my political beliefs with. Come on, we are on the same side.
Linus looks old now 😭
I guess that’s how time works but still…
