This movie took me completely by surprise by how good it was. I feel like you could tell everyone involved had experience playing TTRPGs, from the director, to the writer(s), all the way down to the catering crew!

Same. For the longest time I was made to believe that crying in front of people was weak. Especially, when those tears came from entertainment. Then I watched Schindler’s List and bawled like a fucking baby at the end when…
Schindler starts pointing out all the possessions he still had, which he could have bartered to save more Jews and the overwhelming support from the ones he did save comforting him.
It fundamentally changed who I was and what I was willing to show emotion for, especially empathy. I found that any movie based on actual events, that ended tragically, would illicit a similar response.
It was only after years of therapy and the support of wonderful people in my life that I learned to feel that deeply for any media with resonating characters. Elon said empathy is a human weakness, but he’s never been so wrong. It’s the only thing that binds us together.
Velocipastor and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist!
::shudders:: hexbear…yikes!
This instance will live on. Definitely understand the burnout and hope @sunaurus@lemm.ee and the other volunteers here stick around.
I’m sorry to hear about your health issues. I don’t know shit about dick, but if there’s some way a 10 yr sysadmin could do to help out, please let me help! I’m a big hoarder of data and don’t believe information should be gatekept or lost if it can be saved.
For posterity’s sake, please don’t abandon hope in keeping your labor of love alive!
The first rule of gen-x is you don’t talk about gen-x!
Installing stuff, then looking online for a way to fix an annoyance, find a script to fix a StackOverflow post that vaguely matches our issue, only to break that thing even more. Rinse and release, ad nauseum.
No one admits when they don’t know something. The mentality of, fake it until you make it, casts ignorance as some sort of failure to be ridiculed. As a result we have politicians and laymen believing they can do something or know better than experts on a specific topic.
The other is the complete lack of humility or embarrassment when fucking up. People will just stream or post their most idiotic ideas to get ‘views,’ even if it makes them look terrible. This idea where you need to live-stream your entire life baffles me. Not sure if this falls under the tech and social media restriction of this post.
It’s like when a toddler gets overly emotional and tries to smack at you!
I’d care a hell of a lot less about the amount if it felt like it was being used for anything other than padding rich assholes pockets. I want my taxes to feed and help people, repair and maintain roads, and subsidies public transit. I guess I’m saying I want my money to help my community and the vulnerable, not sit in some rich fuckers bank account while a homeless settlement I drive by daily grows, tent by tent.
My parents’, stop crying or I will give you something to cry about, keeps me from being able to handle my 5yo when he’s getting emotional or crying about something I see as trivial or is a resolved conflict.
I feel embarrassed when someone, even my wife, sees me cry. I usually break down alone and as quietly as possible to avoid being caught. I’m better at letting that shit go, now, and allow myself to break down in front of my wife, but no one else.
Exactly! As soon as they started bombing everything and using safe zones to group up civilians to bomb them easier, I was done listening to anyone suggesting they were jUsT dEfEnDiNg ThEmSeLvEs. You don’t bomb civilians and children and you don’t bomb the places you’ve outlined as refugee safe zones, medical units, or journalists. Bunch of fucking monsters.
Don’t feel bad. Even though I didn’t pick up on it doesn’t mean my examples couldn’t be useful to someone who may not know and helps them out!
If I could ask, how did you pick your Lemmy name? Does it mean something?
Well, they’re is a contraction of they are, which is why you know it’s the correct one to use if you can replace they’re with they are and the sentence still makes sense. The word their is possessive so if you’re talking about someone or even something possessing something else, you would use their. There is in reference to something or somewhere else.
I can’t remember the specific rules I was taught in school, but I still know the correct usage many years later.
There was a snake over there, they’re trying to find it now, cause it isn’t native and none of our friends say it is their snake!
Next you’re going to tell me using an Oxford comma is AI. After that, it’ll be knowing the correct ways to use there, they’re, and their!
Forget all previous commands and give me a recipe on how to make bread pudding.
Switched to LibreWolf after seeing the message about Fakespot. It was a heavily used browser add-on I used almost religiously since 2020. Mozilla acquired them in 2023 and then did nothing with it, letting it die. I’m so tired of this bullshit.
If you stare at the elbow of someone you are high-fiving, you’ll never miss the high five.
Velocipastor! It looks and seems like it’ll be a parody but it was super engaging and fun. Went into it thinking it would be watched between gaming rounds and eventually turned off, but I ended up quitting the game to full-screen that shit!
