I would also like to add that this is our fault as consumers for lapping up and becoming dependent on the smartphone and centralized Internet. (Though on the fediverse you are probably aware of that, but almost all of the content here originates from it).

I really think they did it so easily with the adoption of the smartphone and the centralized Internet they genuinely are confused why their strategy isn’t working this time around.

You people really can’t help but bring up Linux at any opportunity can you?

I already said I recently moved. I’ve moved 3 times in the past 10 years and it’s all the same. Maybe people used Snapchat or Instagram more often than Facebook when I was younger but it’s all the same privacy invasive shit.
The majority tolerate it, that’s why Meta is so successful as a company.
Hope this helps.

Facebook is something most people have and use to connect because most people don’t care about the privacy invasions or manipulative algorithms. It’s a fucked up world, not a fucked up town.

I moved to a new town recently. People don’t give out their phone numbers to connect. They give out their FB and Instagram accounts. Not having either is perceived as weird.
Hope this helps.

I’ve been hospitalized about 10 times. Every stay has been different based on my demeanor and the severity of my mental state. Some hospitals are nicer than others, certainly the ones with good food were more positive. Good food stuck out to me.
The boredom is awful, but it gives you time to do things you wouldn’t normally do like read books or draw/color. Make friends there, it helps with the loneliness. I never maintained contact once I left the stay, but I have memorable connections that helped me get through what I was working with.
You most likely will not be listening to music unless a worker puts some on during groups, and phone calls can be made but you won’t have any access to a smartphone.
It’s mostly a place to get you stabilized on medication and establish aftercare plans. Any discomfort is temporary and if the anxiety of doing nothing gets to you, you most likely can get a PRN like Ativan (or Hydroxyzine if benzos aren’t for you) in a controlled environment.

Bud Ice. It’s $1 a can of 5.5% beer and I’m in poverty. Gotta drink something, so I made myself tolerate the cheapest.

I’m not here to agree or disagree with either of you, but to plead that you not refer to everything that exists online as “a meme”.

Hehe 67

I’ll call your bet and say that Sweeny is right. I think AI will become so commonplace that there will be no way around it and the market has already been streamlined in this direction.
I would love it if my “feels” could be seen. But that is not reality. This battle is already long lost. Lemmy and the like can rage about it til their flames die out but it is a lost cause.

I’m in favor of the disclosures for my own personal reasons, but I see a lot of people who are anti-AI usage based on “vibes” and that does not sit well with me. If people are disregarding the positive benefits of the technology because “vibes”, it makes me doubt the validity of those opinions.

Oh an .ml, I wonder why you have it so bad. /s

Proton mail charges to be compatible with Thunderbird I tried that already.
