Few people buy these sort of books to read them. The way these things usually work is wealthy donors buy these books in bulk. Because they’re buying something, not donating to the campaign, it doesn’t go against donation caps. Also, unlike political campaign contributions, there’s also no restriction on who can buy a book, so it’s a way for foreigners to get money to a candidate. Either MTG has gotten a lot of money she shouldn’t have, and doesn’t want to disclose it, or she doesn’t have many rich friends left, and doesn’t want to embarrass herself.

I don’t get why so many people begrudge YouTube for trying make money. They serve up 5TB of video data every second. Somebody’s got to pay for all of that. They know ads suck, that’s why they sell no ad subscriptions.

We used unused punchcards to make flashcards in elementary school in the late 80’s / early 90’s. I guess the county bought a bunch and had to find another use.

And now I realize the primary definition of flashcard has changed since then, from study aid to digital storage.

During the speech, Trump quotes an editorial by Deroy Murdock saying Trump should be nominated as the Libertarian candidate. My guess is Trump was handed a printout of the article by the staffer whose job it is to cherry pick news to make Donald feel good. He read it and he decided he needed to go to the convention, as everything he’d read said he should be their candidate. The no one among the yes men he surrounds himself with was able to talk him out of it.

It’s like when they refused to pass their own immigration bill because they’d rather campaign on the issue than fix the problem.

The Vermont constitutional amendment protecting reproductive autonomy was the pipeline long before Roe was overturned. Amending the state constitution is a long process that intentionally takes years, to avoid hasty decisions. The timing was great, though, for getting a large & supportive turnout.

I hadn’t heard the Mac story before. I wonder if it’s legit, as I don’t think the Mac, or the Lisa before it, ever had the equivalent of a My Computer icon. Disks appear directly on the desktop; dragging a disk to the trash can ejects it if its removable media, and the only type of disk the original Mac had was a 400KB single-sided 3.5” floppy drive.
