Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a song in a language you don't speak that still gets you dancing and yelling along hyped?
1·2 months agoIdk about singing or dancing, but I have been listening to some artists whose songs I can’t understand, such as MODELKI, Nina Chuba, and Annalisa, to name a few

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How different do you reckon the world would be if, instead of voting someone in, elections were about voting everyone else off until one stands victorious?

How does one know if their DNS is encrypted?
And what would the benefits of a VPN be, if any, in this scenario?
What can they collect, seeing as HTTPS is common nowadays? I mean, they could have DNS wueries, I guess. But then how does custom DNS vs VPN compare?
Okay, what exactly are the benefits of a VPN for the average user (non-corporate), besides pretending to be somewhere else?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an uplifting fact that might counter the doom of our current reality?

Yes, it is Beta. Not a horrible experience overall, despite being Beta. The Bluetooth thing can be a tad annoying, when my headphones randomly scream “connected” in my ears. Windows closing can also be a tad annoying, and the death of my active session moreso (akin to all windows closing together. Combo!)
That explains some of the instability in Pop!_OS 24.04… Programs suddenly closing, session dying upon unlock. Bluetooth turning on by itself sometimes. Glad to know it isn’t haunted, though

Well, I was asked for help. I did not bring that up, they did. Also, we are both in CS… I might just check if the Linux installation party is still a thing here as it was years ago. Maybe that could be useful as well

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was your number one favorite website 'back in the day', that is now defunct?
2·3 months agoYou mean those CPPS? Idk about those… seems there were plenty of controversies around them. I miss the OG. A proper experience, safe for the youngins. These CPPS seem to have shown themselves as rather the opposite, actively dangerous to them. I’m not a youngin anymore, but still

1·3 months agoI just find it kinda weird and annoying how y’all can turn unrelated topics into US news and politics. As someone who has never set foot there, I know way more than I need to about it because of how widespread your news and politics are, and how much it comes my way even when unrelated to the topic at hand.
