Poor Lester (and Buddy) Hunt :(

Yeah I can see that 100%. Makes total sense.
Sightly similar but obviously different we always do handmade birthday cards instead of store bought.
Yeah I believe so. Not sure why you’re being downvoted because non-professional ones done by your mate like that are easier to remove. I can’t remember if laser removal was a thing back then.
Ooooof.
In my late teens, maybe 20 I worked in a restaurant and got invited to a party after work in a very rough part of town. So rough that the taxi driver wouldn’t let us get out until we found the exact address (this would have been mid nineties so well before GPS nav was popular).
Anyway we get there. Folks are nice. Maybe ten in total plus the 4 of us from work. They’re rough around the edges but generally salt of the earth characters which I love so it’s all going well. Get chatting to one lad and he shows me his new tattoo on his forearm that his friend had done for him.
It was a palm tree on a tiny desert island with a dude sitting against the tree smoking a massive joint.
Now this monstrosity was one colour, all outlines, looked like it was done with a compass from your school pencil case and my 11 year old would have done a better job. It’s very difficult to describe just how shite it was.
Felt really sorry for the lad. He was definitely going to regret it if he didn’t already. Never forgot that tattoo though.
Just wanted to re-thank you. On to season two and have already recommended this to two friends. Absolute cracker.
My response to this is usually “Do you have curtains?”
Very late edit: I have found it very effective. It causes pause for thought because everyone values privacy, they just find it hard to picture themselves needing it. Curtains.
if a million people do a stupid thing, it is still a stupid thing.
The only non-tiny countries exclusively using Fahrenheit are the US and…drum roll…Liberia.
So globally roughly 385 million (Fahrenheit) versus 7,700 million (Celsius).
I mean…That’s exactly what I do too. The difference between 67F and 69F is not something you could reasonably put your finger on. 15 and 17C though is noticeable.
Taking body temperatures? Of course we measure the extra decimal place.
Again, this is just down to what you’re used to.
Scorcher in Ireland is 18C because the weather here rarely goes above it. Max daytime temperature in July is generally 20C according to this page. I’d say our European neighbours barely consider that t-shirt weather. It’s humid as all fuck here nearly all the time so that does affect perception of the heat.
On the upside we very rarely go below 0C either so driving conditions are nearly always good.
Celsius’ -18 – 38 degrees just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when describing the temperatures you will experience during 99% of your time on earth
Spoken exactly like someone who just isn’t used to the scale. It’s all just a matter of what you’re used to.
15C - T-shirt weather
18C - Scorcher out lads. Get the sun cream on
25C - Melting point of an Irish person
30C - Jaysus
> 30C - Hubris to go out
100C is “my tea is ready” hot.
Thanks for the recommendation. Giving it a listen currently.
Ireland ticks most of your boxes. If any of your grandparents are Irish you can get dual citizenship. English speaking and lots of cultural crossover etc.
Closer for trips back too. Think it’s only a 5 hour flight to New York for example.
They have come out already and said they will.

Enjoy it and really, congratulations!!
I’ve been the young dad at school and now I’m the old dad. There are 21 years between our youngest and oldest. I wasn’t quite your age when we had our happy little accident but I’m so happy to have him and it sounds like you are too.
I’ll offer one piece of advice and that is to start looking after your health if you’re not already. You’re going to want the extra, high quality years with your kid that good diet and exercise bring and being fit really does help with the parenting adventure (in my experience anyway).
Enjoy the ride! It’s so much fun. I’m really happy for you.
Relevant interview on the national broadcaster with their manager. He gets a decent grilling (the interviewer is famous here for grilling politicians to get past their BS) but it’s an interesting exchange.
How do you give up territory “temporarily,”
A long time ago Ireland did it. We’re still living with that partition today and as part of the good Friday agreement we gave up our constitutional claim on the North. There was a referendum on it (all constitutional changes here require one) and I, along with the vast majority of the Republic, voted in favour with some caveats which would allow reunification.
If they concede now that land is gone though. Gone. There will be no caveats given to Ukraine.
No worries :)
I know we’ve had that label for a long time and I felt like it was reasonable but to give some context, the Ireland I grew up in was poor as fuck. Like there was literally zero kilometres of motorway when I was a kid. To get from Dublin to Belfast you had to drive through every poxy little town on the way.
So the government went all out on using our English speaking, well educated people to bring in multinationals to bring in revenue and stop what was an enormous brain drain in the 80s. The EU funded the shit out of infrastructure and we’re now a net contributor to the coffers.
I think we’ve reached the point that they won’t leave now (the companies or the talent) so the extra taxation is very welcome.
I really needed this. The alternative was ugly.
