Piefed has a couple of different ways to populate a new server. Pulling lemmyverse data and subscribing to comms that way, or scanning a remote Lemmy/mbin/pieces server for comms. You can look at that code if you want inspiration.

Usually Lemmy/piefed does a pull of the most recent 50 posts when the follow first happens. Then new posts come in over time via federation.
If you’re not getting /any/ new posts it may be that the federation is not working. If some communities gets posts more than others then it’s probably a difference in activity levels in the communities.

Aside from the make-the-world-a-better-place stuff, I’ve always wanted to have the space/time to make my own holograms.
I have this idea for claymation+lasers+holograms to make little stop motion films, but as holograms.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but if like to play with the tech and find out

If you have hide read posts on, you can click into it, then back to home. That registers a read. Or the vote then invite method that @slazer2au@lemmy.world mentioned will work

Joe Versus The Volcano.
Also another vote for The Princess Bride

I loved my breadmaker back in the day. I’m in an apartment these days though, so no room for a new one after the last one broke.

Hell yeah! Now that is going to loop in my head for the rest of the day…

I don’t think we support mbin export/import ATM, but I’ve not tried
I added Lemmy export and import to piefed a while back.
I have a note to go work on the piefed export to Lemmy import on my List. It worked a while ago but seems unhappy at the moment. I’ll add mbin export to the List as well.

Backyard in your terms. Rimu is the main dev, lots more of us helping.
It’s not a company.

Yes. You can follow a user and get notifications when they post something.
You can follow a user, a community, an individual post, a comment, a topic (collection of communities), and a feed (user made collections of communities).
Then you get notifications for posts/replies as relevant.

For the federating its a new kind of AP actor. I’ll be putting in a FEP for it in the near future, but its basically a “Group” that only cares about the “Following” collection.
You can see example json for the AP interactions here: https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/src/branch/main/docs/activitypub_examples/feeds
The AP interactions for a Feed are:

I have done this exact thing. Its what multiple career coaches have said to do. In my experience the networking aspect of job hunting is the part that actually gets jobs these days.
So, imo, this is not wrong. Bob agreed so it was fine. It does sound like maybe buying Bob a beer and not asking that particular Bob to do it again is reasonable. But the process in general is sound!

Came here to point out CoH!

You could programmatically rearrange the meaning of sentences. Ie instead of “where is the library I need to get a book” you could do some sort of full word replacement cypher and end up with sentences like “Lets mambo down to the banana patch.”
Just for fun. :-)

Yeah, you have to be perfect and not get knocked off, otherwise its back to square one. Super annoying. But it does feel like a real accomplishment when you finally beat him!

Moldorm - The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (https://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/Moldorm_(A_Link_to_the_Past) )
This f’ing guy was hours of work to beat. Still the most annoying game boss ive ever encountered!

He said he was a racist Nazi who wanted to be a dictator. Yeah i blame the people who voted for him.

Not exactly the same, but the Crash Course on Philosophy playlist is great: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dPuuaLjXtNgK6MZucdYldNkMybYIHKR

Ah yes, the “junk” drawer. I have three! :-)
Came here to say just that, yes.
