I never use a Play Store version of anything I can find on F-droid or other repos I trust. Then I try it using Aurora Store. Only as a last-resort I try Google. Play Store is only for things I cannot obtian or replace another way.

Well sure, but it is more than that. Advertising ,broadly, is literally there expressly to manipulate your emotional state. Social media just gives them more info about your state so they are much more effective at it.

I suppose it is possible the submitter used AI uncredited, but I doubt it. For one thing, there are other images of the same models in the artist’s page. Second, the state of AI image generation when this was submitted (June 2023) was pretty terrible for things like this.

More likely is that the image “looks like AI” to you because most image generation models were trained on Common Crawl, which includes at least tens of thousands of curated (royalty-free) images. In other words, AI models generate images that look like stock photos because that is what they know how to generate.

I figured that out once and now I always break that out when someone references the sound of one-hand clapping. It gets me mostly eye-rolls which as a dad are my life’s blood.

Im normally the one wishing for less politics on Lemmy, but at some point you have to draw a line and define what you actually mean by “too political.” Of course, then you’d need to have someone curate media just for you that adheres to that standard… because simple keywords aint gonna cut it. Orrrr, I guess you could just cut off ALL new media.
