36·8日前Until he has early dementia and forgets the lessons learned, but of course he’ll forget he invested anything tomorrow and do it again!
I’m all for holding people personally responsible, but sometimes we gotta help each other out. Also blaming the victim for being scammed is not helpful. Scammers do so many underhand tactics its impossible for any us to keep track of it all alone.
I’m okay with more tools to help us protect people. Maybe instead of needing ADB, you have to boot into save mode, and can enable 3rd party sources from there? This way you can still enable it on the phone while preventing a script or app can’t automate enabling it. Oh and because there’s more scam shit on google play than Fdroid, we’ll need google play to be enabled via the same method too.

17·17日前That Dave guy shouldn’t have a kid if he doesn’t give a shit if a light falls on them. The “you don’t parent my kid” thing is insane. If someone tells me my kid was in a danger zone, I’m moving my kid.
The church may have had previous problems with the guy bing a negligent ass, and finally told him to fuck off.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite launcher for Android-based OS that values privacy?
1·18日前Not sure what the deal with a v2 is, as far I can find I have the latest version (15 beta 2). Can’t find any reference to a separate version, beside a dead github page for v1 and a second website that appears to be an older version of the app.
I downloaded the play store version, and it was the same version number as Izzy. At a quick glance it looked the same.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you were living with your parents, how often would they go through your personal space? (aka; enter your room, search your drawers, your backpack, your electronic devices, etc...) Is this normal?
2·25日前I never claimed my parents where good at the online part.
We also have individual accounts. It’s not an issue if other associates can see those passwords, as they’re strictly for professional use.
Individual accounts should not be accessible by others. Especially things like email, someone can abuse that really bad. You also have to trust that everyone with access to not share the data with everyone else, because at some point their going to stay logged in somewhere. Or they will give the password to someone because its easier than signing them in all the time.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When you were living with your parents, how often would they go through your personal space? (aka; enter your room, search your drawers, your backpack, your electronic devices, etc...) Is this normal?
17·26日前Never. They’re parents, not the police. As a long as I stayed out of trouble, they respected my space. When I was young they’d go through stuff, but that was more for cleaning the room (when I refused to).
Parents now have to be more involved with the “online” space and aware who their children are in contact with. There’s certainly boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed, the main thing is educating children about the dangers and go from there.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
1·28日前Plugins can be nice. I haven’t used resolve regularly in a while, so I don’t keep up with the news. I looked up the price and it’s $300, thought it was a lot more. That’s pretty reasonable to save up for. Although, I didn’t see if the price is per version or forever, that makes a difference.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
61·28日前Who knew a PDF editor would become so useful.
I’m pretty sure the free version has more features than adobe reader.
And if you don’t want to pay, you can demo all of the paid features. Saving the file will put a watermark on every page, but if you print-to-pdf before you save, no watermark. Great if you just need to merge a few files or do some quick stuff once in a while.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What paid software is absolutely worth the money?
6·28日前Have you tried the free version? Unless you’re running a large scale production studio, the free version should cover you.
Even the iPad version is amazing for quick stuff. No ads, no watermark, and no render limits and all the other junk that the other “free” apps are filled with.
They make their money on expensive hardware.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People of Lemmy: would you date a single parent?
42·1か月前Who cares? Date who ever you like within your age pool. If you don’t want the responsibility of an “adopted” kid, don’t date someone with a kid.
If you’re only doing it for “temporal fun”, whatever that means, than fuck off. If you don’t want to help with the kid, than let the parent find someone who will.

Its a great skill to have, if you fix something a bit janky, no one is going to notice.
Getting a basic sewing machine, while absolutely not required, opens the door to more efficient repairs or modifications. Like shortening sleeves or pants that are too long. (You also don’t have to learn to do different stitches, you select one on the machine and let it do the hard part)
