gigachad@feddit.deto OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•Using OpenStreetMap to play the game in any locationEnglish3·1 year agoAs a kid I always wished I could play video games in my home town. Imagine games like GTA in your neighborhood. Of course we are far away from that, but it is a great idea to dynamically generate environments based on available geo data. I can also imagine this can motivate people in mapping. Gamification is a strong vehicle, look at apps like StreetComplete that have gotten really popular in a short time and play around with badges and levels etc. thanks for sharing!

gigachad@feddit.deto Europe@feddit.de•Pesticide cocktails harm bumblebees in European fieldsEnglish2·2 years agoIt defenitely needs improvement. But I think it’s not too bad, sometimes your data is complex and is not easy to make one single overview figure, especially if spatial data is involved. The figure caption probably makes it clearer…
I guess the std dots were selected because error bars would mess the figure up entirely, as there are many data points. The map is probably used to link the color to the dots, but I mean we have a tool called “legend” for that. If that’s the case, what are the colored dots on the map? And yeah, the X-Axis lacks a unit.
The longer I looo the more difficult it gets, and I would expect more quality by a Nature peer review…

gigachad@feddit.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Fairphone has created a smartphone that owners can repair themselves - This sustainable smartphone aims to reduce global electronic wasteEnglish241·2 years agoThat’s true. I use LineageOS to get at least OS updates, but firmware is definitely problematic. I just wished mobile hardware would be more generic like in Desktop PCs, that would solve a lot of problems.
gigachad@feddit.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Fairphone has created a smartphone that owners can repair themselves - This sustainable smartphone aims to reduce global electronic wasteEnglish421·2 years agoIt’s a great thing, and I hope the industry (with motivation by EU) will follow a trend towards repairability and sustainability. However I think the most sustainable way is buying used devices.
I looked through the article links but couldn’t find Heise. Can you help me?
