Yesss I hate when people get a bad taste for unions just because they have a shitty steward. It can make such a huge difference to feel like someone is on your side in those types of situations. While I understand that sometimes as stewards our hands are tied, it costs nothing to empathize with another human and help them feel heard.
I had a similar thought of like a score of how much they like themselves.

I think convincing yourself that they are animals would lead to worse treatment of them because you stop seeing them as humans. It’s also led to this whole 300 years of their ancestors still believing others are subhuman.
Idk I just see a lot more logic in “my tribe bested you at war so now you come work for us” vs “my people are a gift of god and you are subhuman trash and your descendents are subhuman trash and I will build systems of oppression to prove that and you will forever be beneath me”.
There’s also the degrees of separation with the African slave trade. I’m going to make the comparison to animals and I apologize for the irony here but the difference between killing your own chickens to eat (you see the whole process and it keeps an eye of morality over it) vs going to the superstore and picking a prepackaged chicken (the morality is no longer your business).
They didn’t create an entire scientific field of study to claim others were subhuman as far as I know.
Just continue being you. You’ll find someone that’s willing to do that. In my experience this isnt really gender specific, some people express their affection in those ways and some don’t. You’re not weird for wanting it and I’m sorry you’ve been made to feel that way.
If you’re open about what you want when you’re seeking a partner, you’ll have an easier time finding someone who wants to do all those things.

Yeah my main thinking was that at least those relationships (with the exception of d’arcy/the mayor) weren’t central to the friend group/drama, but of course there’s gonna be romantic relationships in anything because they are a part of life. As far as I remember, the harry/d’arcy thing was an awkward date in a very early episode but maybe I’m misremembering.
I want to say Resident Alien. The core 3 adult friends don’t have any romantic relations as far as I remember. Although there is one love triangle involving one of the main and side characters I guess. But the majority of the show is about real beautiful mixed-gender friendships IMO.

For a fraction of a second my brain went to some other less awful universe and I read this sentence as a totally normal thing of like “oh yeah of course, harambe must’ve been an important person and it’s totally normal for rational governments to honour important people”.
