  • You mean apples proprietary bit that comes with any cheap as fuck set of security bits? I have an electronics screwdriver set that cost me $10 and does ALL THE BITS, including Apples.

Locking lug nuts: you mean the thing most people with nice rims use? People who own things like a BMW? So instead of the one specific locking bit they now have this specific locking bit? So a 1:1 swap for one custom bit to another? Except locking lug nuts are individualized and need the very specific adapter for each one, where this one is generic and would work on ALL BMW locking bolts.

Also, you realize this is a standard bolt, right? As in, you can take it out and put a standard one in if it bothers you.

This is nothing but morons being outraged. It’s like people complaining about tax cuts for the rich as if you’re gonna be a billionaire someday. Your civic is gonna be just fine and for the people actually in this situation who already pay things like $300 for a replacement window switch, this $5 tool is meaningless.

  • It’s a special bit, that’s it. Do you have any idea how many bits/sockets/adapters I already own that only fit one vehicle? TONS. That’s just the nature of vehicles and maintenance. And I’m pretty sure if you own a BMW, you can afford a $5 bit. This is a nothing burger. It’s just people jumping on the BMW hate, which if you were smart, there’s plenty of actual things they overcharge up the ass for. This isn’t one of them. You might as well complain about locking lug nuts as a whole because that’s really all this is.

  • That’s good to hear. I’ll have to give it a look as I sort through alternatives. In fairness, I am in favor of a nitro style subscription for HD voice and video and larger attachment file sizes when you’re not self hosting and relying on their servers. But all the paid profile customization and emoji use stuff needs to go. We need to no longer accept that anywhere.

I think a lot of digital things, including video games, became much worse with the loss of dedicated servers. It used to be expected that you would rent a server to host your ventrillo/teamspeak server. It used to be much more common to rent a server for your Counter Strike games, or play on someone else’s who did. You’d rent some server space and host your vBulletin forum or hang out on someone elses. We used to be much more self reliant on hosting our communities and now we outsource it to a company that offers it for free and turns us into the product.

You want to not be the product? Self host your services or pay for a server hosting service, one that treats you as a customer and not as some free resource to exploit.

And honestly… For fucks sake how did we get to this point where we expect everything online to be free because it’s “just digital”. No. Fuck no. Bandwith and server space and server time costs money. It cost electricity. It costs actual tangible resources that people love to bring up when you’re talking about how evil AI data centers are, but that’s the whole fucking internet! Data centers and cables and all that shit that makes it work. And so many of y’all sit here and act like it should all be free. It’s “free as in speech, not free as in beer”. That’s what we meant. And it got twisted into this abomination we have now…

Yeah I went off on a rant there. Nothing personal to you, person who responded to me. Just went off on a tangent lol. I appreciated you telling me it can be self hosted. That’s awesome 👍

  • Well lots of ways but immediately adding a paid subscription should be a HUGE RED FLAG. Donations, one time payments, etc are fine. Paywalling features from the get go is bullshit tho. And the fact that discord got away with turning normal features into paid ones for years is insulting and laughable. Using custom emojis being locked behind nitro when fucking MSN messenger from 1999 had that is a sad example of how far we’ve fallen.

Any replacement candidate that’s just “discord from a few versions ago” can go fuck itself. Discord was a blight upon the Internet and it’s downfall should be celebrated, not “hey anyone have a clone of this piece of shit? I want something still shitty, just not this shitty”.

I love these asinine takes. I’ve yet to have a single person come up with a convincing argument about how I helped Trump, but let’s see you give it a shot.

I didn’t vote for Kamala(or Trump, before some braindead moron claims otherwise)

    I live in California.

California historically has voted blue for the last ~60 years.

Predictably, Kamala won California by a large margin like any sane person expected.

So how did my vote help Trump? I showed my displeasure with the Democrat Party AND Kamala still got my states electoral votes regardless. So how, exactly, did my vote support Trump?

Or is there actually a shitload of nuance to this issue that you conveniently throw out the window? This is a braindead MAGA level cope.

  • So I had the weird issue that none of my shortcuts were showing the proper icon, instead showing the blank piece of paper placeholder(even in the taskbar). Was digging through some other settings for something and found a bunch of one drive settings left on. Turned them all off and suddenly my icons are back to normal. Not sure if it was trying to access the files in the cloud instead of locally and wasn’t loading them properly or what. Either way, One Drive absolutely fucks a lot of random things up

  • Yeah, I basically assumed that if you died as a henchman or something, you had a really bad agent or people just didn’t like you. Only the A-list actors got to have their big moment dying. But I did believe that the payout was enough to take care of your surviving family, which is why people did it. Kinda some weird ass hunger games type idea way before the books ever existed lol

Henchmen who got shot were like a special class of stunt double in my mind. They were paid to get shot and then have surgery and recover just to do it again in another movie. I did think they had a limit to how many “lethal” stunts they could do before they had to retire or go out on one last insane stunt.

I always wanted to be an actor so I could be a sci-fi actor and get to go to space. I thought those were the luckiest people.

  • I believed number 1 as well! I took it even further because I didn’t understand “acting” fully. I thought it was actually that to be a “doctor actor”, you basically just trained to be both and then they followed you around with a camera while you actually did all of those things. So everyone in a show/movie was actually their profession or something close to it.

Deaths were different for me tho. I thought that as an actor, you decided when you died by taking said part. So it was up to each actor to choose the best death scene for themselves because it would be the only one they got. Better actors got offered better deaths while lesser actors only got to die as henchmen and whatnot. There was a whole life insurance/payout idea that played into all of this. But basically I thought actors fought for the prestige of dying on camera in the coolest ways possible.
