Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Small business owners say Amazon is selling their products without permissionEnglish
21·27 days agoAmazon has been drop shipping like this for a while, my neighbor bought 5 gallons of driveway sealer on Amazon pre pandemic and it shipped from a Home Depot. Seller listed as Amazon no indication of coming from a home depot at all until he got a tracking number for a location in Kentucky.
The weird part was it was the same cost as the Home Depot website so if it was just drop shipping with no backend deal it Amazon didn’t make any money from it.
I went to Linux at the beginning of the year and “had” to install windows onto a drive this past weekend, I’ve looked at myself this way in the mirror everyday since.
Old hardware can be fine for sure. I’ve been thinking about replacing my 9 year old laptop with a newer used Thinkpad but I’m probably going to by a racing wheel instead. I think I’ll end up using that more.

521·2 months agoAs stupid as this statement was from the AG secretary all the Democratic legislators jumping on it with AI images is pretty dumb too. You’re telling me you couldn’t get a staffer to make a shitty meal and post a photo? Come on.
Instead of a bird can I just use my station wagon full of tapes?
Y’all are using Linux for that?

102·9 months agoOrphaned domains like this are interesting, there was a defcon talk, I think, where the presenter bought a bunch of blacklisted orphaned domains just to see if anything would try and connect to them. They got hit with so many botnet clients trying to phone home.
Man I expected this is be a shit post copypasta based on the star wars tragedy of Darth Plagueis not a 40 minute researched talk.

2·11 months agoI think it depends entirely on the card, I’ve seen some cards for sale for absurd money but it’s mostly the rare or high end cards. There might still be value in the low end stuff, the vintage computer scene is weird.
It must feel so good to get home, take of your slacks, and let your programming socks out after a long day in the computer mines.

Europe@feddit.org•Trump announces 'permanent' tariffs on foreign carsEnglish
32·11 months agoYou know what cars aren’t manufactured in the USA? American cars. I drive a fusion and the only part I could find that wasn’t made in Mexico was the radio.

I’m not saying this is wrong because I don’t know shit but when ships crossing the Atlantic were forced to switch to low sulfur fuel a few years ago the North Atlantic rose in temp a few degrees. Turned out the sulfur in the exhaust was causes clouds to form in the atmosphere and was shading the ocean and masking global warming in that region. Pretty much the opposite effect of what you’re saying this dude is claiming.
