Only once, but they caught me and I got fired for being “wildly irresponsible”. It was just for like 15 seconds, the bus barely went off the road.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft Office has been renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app”English
8·22 days agoI wish, I could get behind some hopeful conspiracy theories. “Things aren’t bad because people are greedy asshats, they just want you to see there’s a better way and look for alternatives” “The world order has been taken over by compassionate everymen, they just have to do bad things to keep up appearances”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who identify as male/masculine, do you feel comfortable expressing your emotions/feelings to people irl? Do people who identify as female/feminine feel more comfortable espressing feelings?
1·23 days agoAs someone who has lived in the Midwest, the biggest distinction is if I’m in a city, a suburb, or rural town. People in cities can’t emotionally afford to be genuine to everybody they meet. Rural folk are suspicious of outsiders, but will help you hide a body if you’re in the group. Suburbians can be a happy medium, at least in my experience.

7·23 days agoI think I’m emotionally stunted from years of repressing my feelings. I don’t feel that strongly about most things. A lot of people will comment about how stoic and quiet I am, but it’s not like there’s really too much to express. When I am “upset”, it’s usually because I’m exhausted or hungry.
That being said, in times of catastrophic events (deaths, break ups, etc), I might get upset. But I tend to be very good at expressing myself with words. I take my time and choose them carefully, so much so that sometimes other people will think that im being silent; im not, I’m thinking about all the ways this could play out depending on what I say.
Crying only happens quietly, to myself, maybe once a year, and usually because of some dumb kids movie that gets to me. I think the last one was Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Guys, have you ever been asked this question: "If your mother and your girlfriend are both drowning, who would you save first?" How would you answer this question?
4·25 days agoThe only right answer is that I would save both of them by drowning myself, having them use my corpse as a emergency floatation device. 2 weeks after the occurrence, they would begin smelling brackish water no matter where they are, followed by brief glances of what appears to be a disgruntled boyfriend/son in the corner of the room as I begin to haunt them for asking me such a stupid question.

391·25 days agoIf my mom asked it, my response would be my girlfriend. If my girlfriend asked it, id say save my mom. If they both asked it, I’d get a beer at the bar and let them both drown. Cause fuck you if you’re going to play those kinds of games with me.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Tor Browser for Android - 2 trackers detected by Exodus, WTF!
18·25 days agoTor is aware, and are working to completely remove the trackers that were transferred over from the code. That being said, all the trackers are disabled by default so it’s not like they’re actually reporting anywhere. Tor has one of the best track records for privacy of any software. I don’t think your raising any flags or blowing any whistles that the people who trust Tor are unaware of.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you make a grocery list, or do you just go to the store and wing it?
9·26 days agoI’m shocked nobody has mentioned Aisleron (https://aisleron.com/), I use it for my semi-monthly shopping. It lets you organize items, and then you swipe it if you’re out of it/need to buy more. You can have different stores set up, and each item will go to the corresponding location in that store.
It basically functions like a database for grocery items with an intuitive interface.
Oh, did I mention it’s FOSS?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Americans, when did you first become aware that "judgement" is spelt "judgment"?
16·26 days agoIt’s both. Judgment is common in North American and British English. Judgement is fine, but not for legal proceedings. https://grammarist.com/spelling/judgment-judgement/
OP, are you okay? You’re not making sense.
I assume by “being an introvert” you mean you have social anxiety. If so, start out by looking for things you need online, followed by your location. Many local businesses will have some kind of online presence, or at least a Facebook page. Check what businesses those pages follow or interact with. At least that way you’ll gain some background.
Buying local is ideally going to be a more social experience. You will start having to seek out local markets and meeting the people who provide their goods and services. You’ll also find it easier once you visit local places For example, the local brewery here hosts markets. Local supermarkets buy food from (relatively large) local farms. Smaller local farms work directly with local restaurants. It’s all interconnected.

Technology@lemmy.world•What an unprocessed photo looks likeEnglish
12·30 days agoI’m a little confused on how the demosaicing step produced a green-tinted photo. I understand that there are 2x green pixels, but does the naive demosaic process just show the averaged sensor data which would intrinsically have “too much” green, or was there an error with the demosaicing?
You’re going a little crazy.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How much are you willing to inconvenience yourself to save money?

Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify Music Library Scraped by Pirate Activist GroupEnglish
3·1 month agoPiracy can be used to push back against an unfair or immoral capitalist system, but the people who create and disseminate the art also live in the capitalist system. By all means, subvert the system if you want (it may be the right thing to do), but minimize collateral damage to things you want to support.

Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify Music Library Scraped by Pirate Activist GroupEnglish
462·1 month agoI thought it was gonna be some no-name group that was gonna hold it ransom etc. But it’s actually by Anna’s-archive. I don’t really condone piracy (pay the people who make art, and those who make it accessible), but if anyone was going to do it, I’m glad it’s them.

OP, if you’re still interested in trying to solve the issues, this would be an interesting project. I’m not sure there’s a ton of documentation on flashing a custom ROM to the phone.

Technology@lemmy.world•⇆ bidicalc - a spreadsheet where formulas also update backwardsEnglish
2·1 month agoIt would also be cool to be able to add constraints in other cells, like A1 > B1 or A1 + B1 = 5, though then it would really be more like a linear programming solver than anything.

I took mine over summer break at my high school (birthday is at the end of the spring semester, so it was either that or wait 3 months). But it was definitely offered as just another class. Midwest, BTW.
