I’m not sure if this is ironic bc I’ve been exposed to too many irony-poisoned comments lately, but cloudflare exists to profit off your data. They’re not there to help you, your data and its trends are the product.

None of the above is easily possible, a lot of us do it.
Appreciate the humility, thx.
Trusting US corporations by default rule
You have no proof that they’re “good right now”. The big five corporations were forwarding data to the NSA for years before the surveillance leaks exposed them.
Your privacy default should not be to trust an MITM, ever.
There’s no proof they aren’t doing anything nefarious with that data right now, other than company statements saying, “trust us”.
People default to trusting giant corporations first it seems.
Cloudflare has been around for over a decade and doesn’t do anything nefarious with my data and have never shown any intention of doing so
Citation needed.
They’re a giant middleman getting everything you put into html forms unencrypted.
That includes all your usernames, passwords, and everything you submit via text boxes. Do not trust any site that uses cloudflare.
The level of entitlement is the same, but the main difference is that companies have buffer layers standing in between the people doing the work, and the people receiving the complaints. Programmers there are shielded from receiving hundreds of thousands of complaints directly from users. Those buffer layers don’t exist in open source.
This is one of the best I’ve seen, nice job.
I had to learn kotlin to code Jerboa, and while it’s better than java or javascript by miles, it still doesn’t come close to rust. Android studio is especially terrible, and it crashes my dedicated server pretty frequently.
Yep, this is already a solved problem via torrents. All that’s needed is a site (like lemmy or something else) to host the links, and help with content discovery.
We’re probably hitting close to the all-time high of unread notifications on github… I’m at 1752 rn, only watching lemmy projects.
It does feel like I’ve become the personal issue tracker for a few thousand people all the sudden. 99% of ppl are nice, but there’s always someone demanding free labor to fix their pet issue, while offering to do none of the work themselves, and making ultimatums that they won’t use your software until it gets added.
It’s like okay then??? I’m not selling a product, so I don’t care. I’ve essentially set up a free cookie stand and they’re complaining at me that I don’t have rainbow sprinkles.
No probs! Yeah it’s wild that a lot of people not only using cloudflare sites, but also running them, don’t seem to mind that cloudflare is hoovering up everything.
