Yeah the remote desktop stuff isn’t quite there yet eh? And I was wondering how they were going to replace X over ssh as well.

Those are all perfectly valid reasons.
Sometimes I feel the Linux community is too eager to jump on the latest shiny new thing, even when it’s not finished or lacking important features, or has bugs.

Yeah I’ve had problems as well. In Kubuntu 24.04, Mozc is installed as the default keyboard layout manager even if there’s one that’s already integrated in KDE. I’m learning Japanese and I had so much trouble getting a Japanese input method setup because I was trying to use KDE’s system when I needed to use Mozc. It’s really confusing.

Europe@feddit.org•The Far Right Is Winning In Austria—Even In OppositionEnglish
251·3 months agoMere weeks after the new government took office, Austria’s budget deficit proved worse than anticipated. The response was swift: stringent austerity measures to consolidate the budget, severely limiting investment capacity and forcing spending cuts. Adding insult to injury, these consolidation measures disproportionately burden lower-income households.
As Austria grapples with record inflation and soaring living costs, the far right continues its surge. Since winning nearly 29 per cent in September 2024, the FPÖ has climbed to around 35 per cent in polls. Through sophisticated social media channels and their own media ecosystem, they spotlight every unpopular government measure and exploit each misstep with surgical precision.
That’s the thing isn’t it? Neoliberalism is the only alternative in almost all western nations and they all implement the same thing: austerity. Every fucking time the working class gets screwed over by corporatists and see public services reduced and lose essential benefits to help ease their burden. The the right comes along and presents itself as the saviors of the working class and gains support through lies and deceit by exploiting people’s vulnerabilities.
And socialism? Forget about it. It’s been ingrained into people’s minds that it’s evil incarnate through movies, tv, the news, social networks, etc. No one will ever vote for socialism by fear of losing what they have because they think the state will take away everything

11·7 months agoI understand your frustration and I, too, thought that blocking went both ways before seeing your post.
If you encounter someone who is harassing you and attacking your reputation without your knowledge and down voting your whole history, you should gather the proof and contact your instances mods. There’s a very good chance they’ll ban them either temporarily or permanently from the instance. Or contact the mods from their instance as well.
Anyway, I hope this helps.
I feel the same way about Gnome. But I really hate the path they took for the change in the desktop paradigm. It feels very much limiting and empty. More fit for a tablet, as others mentioned.
I learned that the least you customize it, the less you’ll have problems. But that goes with anything in Linux, really.
No. I swear it doesn’t matter.
I’m in Québec. Here we have 6 years of elementary school, 5 years of high-school, 2 or 3 years of Cegep (college) depending if it’s pre-university or a vocational degree, then 4 years university to get a bachelor’s degree.
I was pulled back from advanced math to regular math back in my last year of high-school because the teacher hated my guts for some reason, and had to redo my advanced math to get into Cegep in computer science. Then, when I graduated after 3 years, my degree wasn’t good enough and I had to go to university. At uni we had 3 semesters a year instead of 2 because it was an engineering degree and because of internships. But I worked in the summer to get some money to pay for my school expenses. Ended up finishing uni in 5 years instead of 4.
Yeah I got set back a couple of years, but it’s okay. And honestly nobody cares if you failed a year in high school. As long as you finish, that’s all that matters.
