In October, Stella Li announced that BYD would build the majority of the EVs it sells locally in Europe following the enforcement of import tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. BYD is working to establish a new supply chain in Europe, will assemble battery packs in Hungary and Turkey, and will only need to import battery cells from its home country.
That’s the way you do it. Tariffs working as expected. Next, bring a battery cell supply chain in the EU as well. Would be nice if the location wasn’t union busting Hungary, but oh well. That’s a solvable problem.
Of course they are. You don’t just marshall hundreds of thousands of people to harm others for a paycheck if they believe they really are harming others. All corporations I’ve worked for do this. It’s corporate culture building.
