athairmor@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you immediately judge a person for when you see them wearing or have?125·11 days agoNegatively: Almost any clothing with more than a couple words of text.
Clothing with a prominent brand.
Clothing with right-wing political connotations.
Dyed blonde hair or hair dyed brown/black that should, obviously, be gray.
Tramp stamps. Japanese writing tattoos on non-Japanese. Face tattoos. Neck tattoos. Tattoos of pop culture themes.
Expensive cars. Dodge pickup-trucks. Harley Davidson motorcycles. Dodge Chargers. Teslas.
Police officers.
Positively: Normal clothing. Well-dressed but obviously not expensive clothing. ‘Funky’ style clothing. Clothing that would just look stupid on me.
Wildly dyed hair. Subtlety dyed hair that isn’t covering something up.
Tattoos that are, at least, fairly unique.
Glasses. (I don’t know, I’m prejudiced for people with glasses.)
Old women.
I could probably come up with a lot more. We’re all prejudiced in some way. It’s the things that we’re prejudiced about and how attached we are to those prejudices that define us.
athairmor@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In your opinion, what is the purpose of a legal system? And do you think that the legal system in the country you live in fulfills this purpose?43·13 days agoIt’s a question that’s been considered over and over again throughout history by academics and philosophers. There’s well-researched books on the topic by experts.
Asking Lemmy is like asking some random person on the street what this whole quantum mechanics thing is about.
You could read up on the subject and discuss particulars with other people interested in the topic. It’s not a subjective question to drop on a bunch of random doom scrollers.
athairmor@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Isn't Lemmy a treasure-trove for AI scrapers?7·13 days agoHave you seen the quality of the comments and posts? It’s mostly pointless garbage spewing—yes, myself included. I’m convinced that part of the reason LLMs can be so bad at times is that they are fed on random peoples’ boredom and doom posting.
Sure, there’s some quality posts occasionally. Sometimes people have interesting, worthwhile discussions. But, like Reddit before it, most of the posting is memes, snark and venting. It’s not good content on average. If LLMs are training on barely-moderated forums, they are not getting a good education.

Make sure you cancel that call right away unless you actually need them.

athairmor@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•How Do I Prepare My Phone for a Protest?English6·17 days agoYou should probably leave your own phone at home when you do. You don’t want the burner phone and your own showing up on the same towers at the same time. Turn the burner completely off when near home or your personal phone.

Now They’re Turning on Us. — Queer MajorityEnglish74·21 days agoI went even further — I joined a nonpartisan organization as a legal analyst, advocating for parental rights in schools, against race-based affirmative action, and opposing radical gender ideology.
She’s a legal analyst for Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR). It is not nonpartisan and her degree is in Dance.
Ah, the Internet. Where we all get a platform whether we’re qualified or not.

Every hardwood floor installer I’ve talked to recommended NOT using Murphys Oil Soap. The reason they gave was that it leaves a thin film which builds up over time. When it comes time to refinish the floor, that film makes it difficult and more expensive.
Depends on the material. I wouldn’t use that on hardwood floors, for example.
Most of the work is mechanical. Soap/alkalis help with grease/oils by making them mix in water. Dirt particles will stick to oils and go along. Acids will break up minerals, kill fungus/mildew and deodorize.
- Dirty, greasy areas: alkalis
- Mineral deposits, areas that have biofilms, mold, mildew: acids
All purpose: a little of both
Thrown a couple drops of Dawn* in your mix for an all purpose cleaner. Just be careful where you use it. Leave out the acids for more delicate surfaces.
*I don’t mean to push certain brands but Dawn is cheap and good at what it does.

There are crypto companies that are publicly traded as well as crypto ETFs. You could short sell those.
Personally,I wouldn’t risk it with how crazy crypto is. It’s seems way too easy to manipulate.
Yes. They already do this to some states in the USA that have similar laws.
VPNs get around this just fine.

You’re just adding more fraud.
Out of curiosity, what’s an example of something that is sold as homeopathic that is an effective medication? And why isn’t it approved as a medication?
Yeah, nothing I crave more after running 5k than a tall glass of… milk? 🤮
