Not just in the gun community but like everyone.

Look, I’m no spring chicken. My age starts with a 4 now, and it seems the age gap between me and the age of the president hasn’t changed.
I’m just tired of geriatrics running the country.

If it’s negative, it’s fake news.

Turns out Linux doesn’t play well with NVIDIA.
Got Ubuntu because all I wanted was to play/mod games and watch videos… and Windows 10 totally shit the bed. Constantly on the green loading screens.
I’m so lost with installing, directories, hidden directories, learning how to uninstall things I can’t find in directories I can’t find. It’s a massive headache and steep learning curve.
Still haven’t really played a game yet that can’t run on Ubuntu natively, and it’s still better than Windows 10.

What if you’re new to it, and there are 6 different recent versions of something all named with a description instead of version number? Is Jumbo newer than Mega?
Fuck it, I’m ranting about this because it still upsets me.
I wanted to buy a 3DS to play Shovel Knight and Binding of Issac. Reading up on them, BoI would only play on a New 3DS XL. Cool.
Went to the store and bought a new 3DS XL only to find out I got the wrong one. What I wanted was a NEW 3DS XL, and what I got was a 3DS XL that was new. There is a difference, and it took me 4 days to notice, and I was working out of town for the next month. So I can’t return it. FUN!
So screw naming new versions of things with names instead of numbers. But somehow, Microsoft screwed that one up.
KISS: Keep it simple, stupid.

Only because I need to know if it’s written better or worse than 50 shades, and I could use the paper when I pack extra plates.
at_an_angle@lemmy.oneto Technology@lemmy.world•The Pentagon is moving toward letting AI weapons autonomously decide to kill humansEnglish59·1 year ago“You can have ten or twenty or fifty drones all fly over the same transport, taking pictures with their cameras. And, when they decide that it’s a viable target, they send the information back to an operator in Pearl Harbor or Colorado or someplace,” Hamilton told me. The operator would then order an attack. “You can call that autonomy, because a human isn’t flying every airplane. But ultimately there will be a human pulling the trigger.” (This follows the D.O.D.’s policy on autonomous systems, which is to always have a person “in the loop.”)
Yeah. Robots will never be calling the shots.

And being someone who is computer literate, finding a distro that was similar to windows to learn with was a pain. With all the infighting and superiority complexs on forums, the absolute number of variations of distros, combined with the avalanche of information you need to digest just to get a basic understanding…
Yeah, I get why people will stick to Windows and ignore free/better alternatives, all while complaining. It’s just not worth it to a vast majority of users.

As a noob to Linux: THERE’S A WIKI? Awesome!
As a mechanic: Everything I deal with comes with an instruction manual that has the steps written out simply… for a mechanic.
If I didn’t ask the simple questions when I first started, despite having the manual available, never would have learned the basics from someone who knows.
I’m not trying to sound combative or anything, just that sometimes a person needs a small stepping stone of an answer to progress.
I’m just dipping my toes into the Linux world and searched up something like “Linux distros for beginners,” and Mint with Cinnamon was on like five lists.
It’s like having sex for the first time. Don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m having fun.

I tried. I really tried to like GIMP. The main reason I don’t like it is because it’s trying so hard to be a professional picture editor and the UI.
Why can’t I deselect things? Why does something need to be selected at all times? Let me just click a button and remove the selection outline and deselect things.
No. I won’t help the dev team because I can’t code to save my ass. I turn wrenchs and fix things for a living.
I use other, simpler pic editors. Why should I learn to fly a Boeing 747 when a Cessna 172 will get me where I need to go? I’m making a shit post once every three months, not professional art.
