andrewta@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do adults still have time to play video games? (I mean: Do *you* still have time?)5·4 days agoFifty plus here and yes I still play. Two fifteen minute breaks and a half hour lunch so I game during that time. Plus a couple hours on Monday nights and same on Friday nights. Gives me a little time to unwind. Definitely not middle class

Had they not made it a reboot but a continuation of the story, or even a story set many years before the original movies. I’m not talking a prequel that is a direct tie in, but maybe a new story but set in the past. Then I’d be interested. I’m done with reboots.
andrewta@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Tell me about when a stranger was kind to you33·7 days agoIn between my junior and senior in high school, my mom, and I and my brother were told that the house we were renting was being sold.
We had no place to go nobody would rent to us. That meant we were homeless. One of the neighbors let my mom sleep on her couch another neighbor let me sleep on their couch, a third neighbor let my brother sleep on their couch.
After about a month or so that my mom was able to get an old beat up trailer house from a relative. No cost we just had to figure out how to move it. It wasn’t gonna last for much longer than a year, but at least it would be something.
About a year later, Habitat for Humanity was able to get us a house. For those who think that means a free house. No that is not a free house. It’s a mortgage for the house at 0% interest. You repay the mortgage.

andrewta@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is moderately severe back pain really normal at 30?21·8 days agoYour normal doctor will not have a good answer for you. You need to see a spinal specialist. Or a specialist for your back. No an x-ray will not show you what’s wrong. You will need something better like a MRI. Better to go and know then not go and regret it.

But cars tend to have more of a slant to the windows then they used to, so less bugs smack and splatter.

Yeah now I’m seeing the update. Odd. But thank you

No . Btw I’m left of center. My views haven’t changed that much because of the net
andrewta@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍♂️?5·13 days agoNo problem on the phrasing.
I’ve seen things like what you describe where the parent was using the child support in that manner. Becomes a real problem when the kid leaves home. Always interesting when the one paying child support stops the payment to the ex and starts giving it to the kid (because they are going to college). Suddenly the kid sees who’s really helping and who isn’t.
andrewta@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍♂️?7·13 days agoChild support would happen if you lived with one parent and the other parent pays.
Alimony (as far as I know) has nothing to do with having a kid there or not.
So I’m not sure why her alimony would change if you move out. It would change if she got remarried.
Alimony, also known as spousal support or spousal maintenance, is a court-ordered financial payment made from one spouse to another during or after a divorce. Its purpose is to help the recipient maintain a similar standard of living to what they had during the marriage. The amount and duration of alimony are determined by a judge based on various factors, including the length of the marriage, the financial circumstances of both spouses, and their ability to support themselves (this paragraph copied from Google).
