So…Trump then?
K.
So…Trump then?
It’s always fascinating to witness, in an age of easily accessible information, not a person who parrots cruel words or malicious ideas, but rather someone who is so wholly and completely ignorant you’d expect them to tell you a story about how they used to live under a rock before some dudes in white coats thawed them from an ice slab.
In this thread:
Everyone not on the Right doing what they do best:
Argue incessantly with one another.
And ya’ll wonder why the Left struggles so often.
The best case is the dems pushing him aside and going to fucking town with another candidate.
The second best, and possibly sleeper choice, is Biden taking this atrocious debate performance and going apeshit to fix it, by forcing the dems to follow his lead. Assuming he was feeling under the weather enough to cause that display. This could be turned around with enough pissed off energy behind it because that’s what the Dems need to do: Step up, fire back, and actually fight fire with fire for once. No more of the upturned nose. They would gain supporters this way and if done correctly Biden would set himself up in a better position than prior to the debate.
You can guess, though, which one is a more dangerous decision.
Twisting words so hard I think the man is trying to verbally make a twizzler appear in thin air.
Long as it isn’t a bowl of penunias, I suppose. Though I’m not against a whale appearing above his head.
POINT IS, the GOP is trying to say that Biden using his authority as President, and loopholes almost certainly carved by past Republicans, to bypass evil restrictions (See: Senate v. Student Loan Debt), to help others is actually the same as Trump. He’s flipping the narrative and normalizing Executive power.
What a little shit.
Sure is: Bottom-up reform and mass peaceful civil unrest in the form of large marches and demonstrations, to use a few magic button words. These do work. However, and I’m with our country’s leadership on this thought process: They don’t expect us to be able to pull it off.
We could vote for someone else. We just have to do three very important things:
ALL OF THESE, each individual step, are massive steps to expect and to take. Yet they are what would fix things. The biggest hurdle, in my opinion, is finding leaders people can rally behind. Because make no mistake: Anyone leading this would be in significant danger, and I think most people know that.
Moreover, while a lesser evil is still an evil, we are in a situation where these are the choices we have. By choosing Biden we have a chance to shift the lesser evil towards a greater good. Though four years isn’t a long time I sincerely feel we can make those changes if we just. stop. bickering. Cause fuck me if the Right won’t come together just to nail someone to a cross. Most the rest of us will have heated arguments over whether day old spaghetti is better than fresh.
Don’t you dare. I see you starting to make spaghetti claims, dammit.
Okay, I’ll bite:
How does not voting either Democrat or Republican help us right now?
Wheel of Fortune is a lot different than I remember.
I loved it when my local giant ISP kept pushing broadband connections, saying they couldn’t possibly deal with costs associated with Fiber. Then they begged money from the Government to install infrastructure. Queue absolutely no work in my area. Fast forward a few years, a new ISP rolls in with Fiber and like magic my ISP was suddenly able to provide similar services.
I can’t hear you over all the “He’s probably not that bad.” and “Haha he’ll never win, I’ll vote for him as a joke!”
Oh well see that would actually require communication and commitment.
We don’t do that. Something about needing that job that they definitely won’t pull out from under us to pay those bills that never go up.
In most cases yes, you’re right. In this case I honestly believe they’re [mostly] dragging their feet out of caution. Trump isn’t so rich in money as his followers are in potential. It’s a similar reason why I don’t think they’ve locked him up. If they did I heavily suspect he’d be made a martyr and regardless of that result his cult maga idiots will flock to where ever they think he is and cause all sorts of issues.
Just about anything is traceable. The trick is making it not worth the effort.
Y’know, honestly? Trump? This IS rather impressive. Good job. Collecting those titles like some of us collected rocks.
That’s fine, so long as it barrs him from running. I’ll take small steps to fix shit for now. We can accelerate after we oust this jackass.
I’ll say this: Grabbed a free month of Prime through Google Play. Went to cancel it before it charged me again and I had so much trouble figuring out how I decided that I couldn’t be the only one and ended up Googling it.
You couldn’t quit in the Google Play Store. It wasn’t even listed.
It wasn’t any form of subscription or listed as a membership on Amazon.
You couldn’t end it by following QR codes or links supplied to you on Amazon itself.
It wasn’t in your Amazon profile or Google profile.
The ONLY WAY to cancel it was by scanning the QR code, following the link, clicking on a “Contact Support” button, clicking on another button under “Help Topics” that said, “How to end your Prime Membership”, and finally you were taken to a page where you could actually end it. Obfuscated like a motherfucker.
So, uh…we going to plan protests yet, or…
When does all this become too much for the left? Cause I gotta say: We are being VERY lenient so far. We basically look at the Republicans and go “Okay, act like babies. We’ll just rise above it.” and gotta say: It isn’t working.
I’m pretty hard against Trump and the Republican Party. I support Progressive policies and laws regardless of where they come from. What really irks me is how damned unresponsive people on the Left are. I feel like all we do is talk about what-if’s and what-could-be’s. Hell, part of me was surprised Gaza caused any protest at all with how damned passive everyone over here so often is in comparison to the raving lunatics over on the Right. It’s appalling and frustrating.
“The Republicans are the problem.” (actually fair)
“The democrats are the problem.”
“The [insert dice roll here] are the problem.”
It’s more complicated than one or another. So taking into account that all parties are currently “the problem” with Republicans being absolutely 100% on top of the fuck off list of naughty naysayers, I argue that YOU are also the problem, my dear voter.
So look, Lemmy is a leftist, and to some degree, progressive vacuum consumed by a desire to see better days. We have our trickle-in bright red-orange tarts to displace some sentiment, though mostly we all want similar things. The problem though is that we are all just too fucking opinionated on precisely where and how to do “it”. Like fuck, guys, here’s our narrative:
"Biden Harris is a good bad mediocre handicapped stable president old man who had a cold raspy voice that still answered, didn’t answer, could have answered, more harder faster. His policies are good great bad awful, work, and we need to get him back into office, probably, maybe, someone else, not Trump.
You all collectively sounding like a certain riddle-giving Statue guarding a mad tyrants vault.
We fucking agree on so god. damned. much. But like fuck all if all of you aren’t so hung up on the petty details and discourse within your own neigh disillusionment that you can’t help but yell at one another over stupid bullshit.
Shut up and come together for fucking once. Because if there is one thing the right has that ANY group left of the bipartisan line doesn’t have, it’s the ability to hate each other and still act together when the stakes are the highest.
