Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there a third party YouTube client that supports DeArrow and actually works nowadays?
1·10 months agoThe Dev is implementing a local only mode for the next version. It can be downloaded from the Nightly-Builds Repo if you want to try it.
This is the link to the nightly-builds: https://github.com/libre-tube/NightlyBuilds
Be aware that it is a Debug-Build so it will be a bit laggy
Looks like a custom painting in minecraft

Privacy@lemmy.ml•How to get push notifications in a degoogled phone?
1·1 year agoSignal uses 2% a day and Element 1%. I do not really think this is significant.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•How to get push notifications in a degoogled phone?
8·1 year agoIt depends for what Apps you need them. Often Apps like Signal or Element support getting Notifications via a persistent Server connection or asking every so often for Notifications. Even tho i could not find any source, i found that this works with Whatsapp(sadly have to use it) too.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•What is least terrible SmartTV OS for privacy?
72·1 year agoEverything is really bad. But sadly it is nearly impossible to buy a normal TV these days. Just buy any SmartTV, and get yourself a MiniPC with the Linux Distro of your liking.

Technology@lemmy.world•YouTube on TVs is cramming ads down your throat even when pausing videosEnglish
2·1 year agoTrackpad: Because i decided to not go with anything like kodi, i need a mouse and as i can not use a mouse when sitting on the couch i got a keyboard with integrated trackpad.
Jellyfin: There are a hole lot of guides on jellyfin. Just put it in to youtube and you will find plenty of stuff. The only thing is ‘obtaining’ the media to fill your library. There are a lot of ways and it depends on what language you need your content to be in to make any decision.
Homelab: Well if you want to run anything like piped or jellyfin you need a homelab. This could also be just a RaspberryPi. To get Piped with subscription feed running you can use my guide: https://gist.github.com/WreckingBANG/405235949c655cd8246188ba25c42277

4·1 year agoSet up a mini PC like a used Lenovo ThinkCentre, install Linux, and add a keyboard with trackpad. Run Jellyfin and Piped on your homelab, then ‘obtain’ media for your Jellyfin-Instance. Enjoy TV without distractions or tracking!
