  • I can only recommens to get into hobbies like building dioramas, electorincs, music (there are daws like bitwig or ableton with free trials, its on the PC as well though), Start some sport, i like bouldering because you basically sit around all the time and then climb some routes and talk with friends. Or be creative with cooking! The only thing is to just start doing something new. Its always fun!

To be honest there are 4 things that combine in a bad way. Sorry if that is too forward, I don’t know you and its just what I’ve read here. So dont take it the wrong way.

    • you seem to have very high expectations of yourself, which is great but you burn out quck that way. You seem to not want to give up and fail
    • you seem to be stuck in your day to day rhythm
    • you seem kind of burned out or depressed
    • you seem to have a lack of input, variation and aktually kind of life

Try to break your day to day cycle and be kind to yourself :)

  • A friend of mine works in a similar position and we discussed it a bit.

Since ai is a thing and we have some newer, younger and motivated profs, they actually kind of teach and discuss the use of ai in class, which is pretty important.

In my opinion we will not get rid of them, just like the internet.

And we have no metric to determined if ai was used or not.

So the only way to deal with this situation is to accept the existence and use of ai and create different tasks.

For example make them explain the code and make it clear there will be questions. That way they have to learn code. If they use ai or not does not matter.

And create tasks that require human interaction, like collaborative tasks, those can’t be done by ai and you have to structure the project.

  • Adding to the interesting lists here: As a sport for me I found bouldering and climbing. I don’t like sport but bouldering is not about sport but about getting up that stupid wall, and it feels amazing.

I have multiple hobbies, some require my brain (programming, electronics, engineering and stuff like that) Others not so much (music production/playing live sets, building dioramas, woodworking, metalworking, working on my motorcycle or cooking) And I can highly recommend to get hobbies that both require some concentration and creativity so you can have some balance :) Good luck!

  • I would be very careful with that. Not official alcohol for example can be very dangerous if the person making it does not know about methanol, which is toxic. If it is not destilled properly, it can end up in the final mix and cause dangerous problems. I guess it goes with other drugs as well. People will still make a profit from it, just without taxes. It’s just easier to justify having some plants at home. So the state is missing out on drug taxes, which could be quite high (lol).

So by creating drug stores, where you can buy controlled, legal drugs would be a lot mor profitable for the state, healthier for society and better for the consumer.

This half assed weird regulation will be used by the conservative parties to justify blocking further legalisation by arguing it’s already free I guess

  • I’m looking forward to where they will be produced. I’d they actually source and produce most of the material and even the shoe itself I the us, it would be actually pretty impressive and worth the cost, if they are quality shoes. But I guess the will produce in Asia, like everyone else and not really make profit for Americans but rather no profit for the cheap labor and all the other profit for trump himself. Funny how things work sometimes, but let’s await the outcome first! Cognitive dissonance I think?
