I mean it’s just what you’re used to. I’m from the Netherlands, so for me seeing 240 € looks weird. That’s just how language works. (Which is great in my opinion, there never should be one exact way to do language)

In English, the euro sign is in front of the amount.
English/Dutch: €1 German/French/Spanish/Italian: 1 €
Since this post is in English, the sign is in the correct place.

While I agree with your points I still think it would be beneficial to limit companies recruiting migrant workers.

I just don’t think it’s scapegoating. Scapegoating would be blaming refugees who make up a miniscule amount of the housing demand, or blaming moroccan/turkish people who have been here for >3 generations already. Which is what populist parties are saying. The points mentioned in this article are about migrant workers, who are encouraged to come work here by the government and corporations, and parties are saying limiting that, will help the housing crisis a bit.

I think people are interpreting this wrong. Parties are saying encouraging / enforcing companies to be less reliant on migrant workers will ease the housing crisis. These are not refugees, but people who have been encouraged to come work in the Netherlands. It’s not (just) populist/capitalist parties saying this. It’s the left wing too. In fact the main capitalist parties want to keep migrant workers because big corporations and multinationals benefit a lot from it.
I have the opposite problem on my windows pc, it takes so long to boot that the monitor goes into standby before it boots again

Those dutch F-35s are already deployed in that region for this exact purpose. It’s not like they flew over there from the Netherlands just for these drones.

I think this just gives them the right to request a certain person’s information, not just read it all

This might also be the case in the Netherlands to be fair. Sorry for the confusion then.

US-Evangelical. Even evangelical dominations can vary a ton. It’s just a term for trying to expand/spread the faith. In the netherlands evangelical churches are often the most progressive.

And even the term evangelical means very different things. In the netherlands the ‘Evangelische kerken’ are some of the most progressive.

I looked it up cause I thought this was about those full face coverings but those are burqas… Keffiyehs are just headdressings, this is just about blocking muslims / middle easterns, cause I bet they would be fine accepting a white person with a scarf around their head

You can edit titles on Lemmy! :) might not he something you think of coming from reddit.
since when is the president of the European commission addressed as your excellency

I took a look st the statistics, I presume you mean more people not going to traditional schools. There is no data published for 2024 yet, but there was a massive peak in 2022-2023, but this is attributed mostly to a big spike in immigrants coming to the Netherlands in that period too. The bans in Dutch schools are not only during the lessons, which they always have been, but now fully during the school day, having to lock away the phones at the start of the day and unlock them at the end, meaning they can’t have them during breaks either.

Comic sans is a great typeface in my opinion. Just often misused.
