10·5 months agoI guess this is a win-win situation 🤩
org mode is king!
But then, what is it a master of?
It’s about master copy. You have a master copy, and you have the development copies that are a copy of the master which is where you make your changes.
If i had to guess, the problem is that people don’t know how to use git and develop in the master
It actually says what it does in the name without using the idea of racism and white supremacy.
The origin of the words blacklist and whitelist doesn’t have anything to do with racism. If someone looks around and only sees racism, then who is the racist?
master.
I grew up with master before the master nonsense. It’s ingrained in me. So i use that in my projects. Some projects i contribute use main, and i don’t give a fuck. It just fucks up my memory muscle - but nothing that an alias doesn’t solve.
EDIT: and btw, fuck github.

67·7 months agoskype was way ahead of his time. The quality was top notch. MS fucked by changing the architecture from decentralized to centralized in windows servers - this fucked up the calls quality and it created an opportunity window for whatsapp, viber, etc…
MS turned skype to shit.

181·8 months agoThis is the 3rd time, that i remember, that some german state moved to linux. It always ends up with moving back to windows, because:
- Corruption/money
- The users will complain until death about linux, because now the workflow is different, and they don’t like it.
isn’t it FLOSS? Free libre open source?

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit will warn users who repeatedly upvote banned contentEnglish
302·9 months agoI register on reddit 17 years ago. Before the great migration from digg. I remember /r/programming being the first sub to reach 100k subscribers.
I got banned for saying in the /r/europe sub that russia banning youtube in russia was a good thing because then we in the west would get less russian propaganda. Got banned for a couple days. Left and never looked back.
/r/programming is dead already since around a decade. All the good discussions moved to hackernews and lobsters.
EDIT: never forget that spez admitted to silently edit user comments that criticized him

Just proves that his political views are based in what it’s best for his company.
“The US should be liquidated and sovereignty returned to individual states so that governments can better represent their people,”
Fixed that for
