They are launching an immutable distro, it just got released in beta. Still new stuff. But it being based on the latest and greatest of KDE, I was automatically attracted.

Speaking of federation, do you know if there is a site that compares federation from instances. It would be nice to make a good decision before creating an account. Like I am on lemmy.ca and have no idea what you may see that i don’t. Personally I feel like lemmy.ca is good but have no comparison point other than lemmy.world I used a little.

And for OP if you browse on mobile I tried a lot of apps and settled on “Summit”. It’s great and stable.

I’m currently running KDE Linux and I must admit I like it ! The immutable system feels weird but kinda safe. But the lack of Midnight Commander is a shame ! And I guess the not working transparency in yakuake is due to it being coded for X11.

Same, I feel like if I talk to them it may break their focus, and they are usually paid by the job, not the hours, so less time in my house more money in their pockets.

Yeah, we have a few newcomers in the shop here, and conservatives here always tell them it’s imperative to vote conservative or they will lose their rights etc… They would have no idea what the implications are if I would not chime in and let them know if they do so they vote for the people who want to kick them out.

You used to be able to tell what every process was doing on your computer. Nowadays there are so many processes running and they all have tons of child processes that you can’t tell what is doing what.

I kinda miss the days when computers and the Internet were so slow that you would notice if something else than what you were running was happening. Data logger calling home on my 28k modem would have been noticed right away. Trying to screenshot my pc screen every time I type or click, no way I could miss that. Scanning my HDD would lock it down so much I would have been stupid not to notice.

That’s what they are hoping for so they can charge their customers for damages that don’t exist and go computers don’t make mistakes when you complain.

I had a IoT device “lightbulb” that would trim any spaces left after the passkey, problem being I intentionally had a blank space at the end of my passkey. Took a while to realize till I counted the little stars hiding the recorded passkey.
