Unexpected good elon take. Patents and copyright laws have probably held us back at least 50 years worth in advancements. So much R&D is just solving problems that have already been solved.

Deceptive title. If the person hosting the server has Plex pass then it’s still free for other users to use remote playback.

Technology@lemmy.world•Firefox Nightly Preps Progressive Web App SupportEnglish
1·1 year agoIndeed. I’m not sure when they added mobile support back, but it wasn’t there when I last looked for it. Guess its time for me to move my PWAs out of brave now. Thanks.

13·1 year agoYes, they did that when the EU made the ruling about allowing other app stores. Apple doesn’t like PWAs cause they lose their 30% cut. Hopefully we some ruling or law that they have to treat them equal to native apps.

571·1 year agoI dont use many PWA’s since I had to run them on chromium before. But as a web Dev and even more so as a user, I feel like PWA’s are the way to go. They completely avoid all the app stores drama plus the 30% fees. Also the devs get to deploy instant updates without the delay going through the app stores. Just like any other web app. If done right I could see them replacing most native apps. Assuming we can get apple to allow PWAs full CPU usage. Currently they are throttling them from what I understand.
Edit: To clarify I’m speaking about mobile. I’ve never even tried PWAs on desktop and can’t imagine why I would use that over browser+bookmarks.
Zen is pretty cool.

27·1 year agoTheir website has over an hour wait time. If the price is good this laptop could be big. I hope it keeps the good Linux compatibility their other ones have.

171·1 year agoBeing a Linux user I really like everything being ran in the browser. What if we just have more control of which JS APIs can be used? On a site by site bases. Which I assume can probably already be done with extensions.

12·2 years agoIts the only way I would eat meat again. But don’t think it will ever become a normal part of my diet again. The plant-based meat options are just as good and are healthier. They will only get better too.

Right now my fav is the second sandwich in This video. I’ve made it at least a dozen times in the past month or two. Avocado and blk olives + humus + roasted red pepper/onion/zucchini + balsamic vinegar glaze(I do extra of this)

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there a downside to using Tailscale when it comes to privacy?
2·2 years agoYeah true, that’s part of making wire guard more convenient. You have to have a 3rd connection for that I think. In tailscales case it the headscale server.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is there a downside to using Tailscale when it comes to privacy?
291·2 years agoFrom what I understand tailscale is basically wire guard but made convenient. And how they do that is by managing you wire guard keys for you. So I would have assumed they could use the keys to access your network. HOWever while trying to look into this just now I found out tailnet lock exist and it says “When tailnet lock is enabled, even if Tailscale infrastructure is malicious or hacked, attackers can’t send or receive traffic on your tailnet.”
The return system uses weight. There is a scam ppl have done where you order something then switch it with the same weight in rocks or sand. Then send as a return to get your money back. So I assume a empty box wouldn’t have the needed weight and would be flagged.
Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. From the sound of it if you haven’t already watched them you would really like them. Sci fi and definitely has the group/team evolving aspect.
House music. Nearly everyday while I code. Mostly Chris Luno sets.
I see it a lot when ppl complain about signal, but just can’t understand why you would save 10+ years in old msgs. Almost all my signal conversations even GRP chats are set to 1 week auto delete. If something important Is said that I need to save, I copy/paste it into my note app where I can organize it. Its sounds so impractical to dig through 10+ years of data everytime you need something. Plus it would be awful to know there is a log of all the dumb things I said 10 years ago lol.
I don’t care about the photos. But glad to hear they are taking photos and music out of the main app and making it less bloated.
Hotkeys are almost always faster than using a mouse. Ctrl + tab & Ctrl + shift+ tab. Also alt + 1-8.
Ctrl + T to make new tab and Ctrl + W to close current tab.
This is the way.
