I understand the existential pressure Mozilla faces. Their lunch is being eaten by AI browsers
Is there any data to back this up? Last I checked Firefox was still the 3rd most used browser, by a wide margin.

Their statement is “we’re incorporating AI into your browser”. What “agenda” do you think this author has? Other than informing users?
Mozilla already has limited resources. Using them to incorporate features into their browsers that their users have already made it abundantly clear they do not want, is bad.

Agreed on all accounts. Feels half-baked and abandoned.

Vivaldi is like the only tech company in the world that has come out and stated definitively “we will not use AI”.

Can you just skip the clickbait and post the answer

I’d probably choose somewhere outside of France. Hetzner probably a better bet.

Not going to speak to Bandcamp, specifically but generally anytime you create an account, all of your activity then becomes associated with that account. In the case of Bandcamp? With a properly aliased email address? Should be fine.

No endless lists. Just a fast decision.
I mean I could click on the first title on Netflix and quit scrolling. But it’s not what I want to watch. That’s why I scroll. You’re suggesting your app knows exactly what I want to watch, every time, based on some very basic input, and I don’t believe that, and I’m not willing to install it to find out.
The problem with Netflix (and every other platforms) is that they have this massive library of thousands of titles but they just show you the same fucking content over and over again.
If you had something that simply surfaced different titles, I could see that alone being useful.
I find that people on the internet are largely incapable of level-headed discussions.
Start a discussion, debate, or ponder about whether water is wet
Do we really need more petty debates? 😅

Disagree. Having all of these products means you can get them all under a single subscription for a reasonable price.

…and if you don’t have any?

What are the chances that not having a social media account is treated as super suspicious?

Mostly cultural, with a strong focus from NOSTR appearing to be crypto scams.

There’s a difference between disbelieving an entire nation of people and disbelieving a state-sponsored propaganda factory.

Users deserve access to the best possible information, not information filtered through our political lens.
Except “the best possible information” is filtered. That’s the whole point of a search engine is to 1.Find and 2.Filter. If your search engine is turning up Russian propaganda, that is NOT “the best possible information”.
Where is FDroid repo?
Can I have some room invitations?

Mastodon is part of fedi, yes.
AI search is useless for the same reason search engines are useless. But at least search engines force you to look at the source information and the context around it. So AI search is even more useless.
Making a better search engine solves nothing. There are several dozen of them already but Google remains on the top for a variety of reasons, including continued anticompetitive behavior and overwhelming consumer apathy. Most of the other ones aren’t sustainable without using the same shady advertising Google is using. Kagi being the exception. Mozilla could definitely offer a similar paid solution.
