  • Seems like it’s always the same. Dictators push borders and take over lands -> “Oh that’s illegal and very bad, but they’ll be satisfied with that and stop there” -> dictators take over another country -> “Oh that’s illegal and very bad, but they’ll stop there” -> rinse and repeat until it’s close enough to your country. “Who could have seen this coming?!”

  • I’d build the greatest damn utopia the world has ever seen for my citizens. Get the best scientists and researchers and listen their ideas, and implement them. Put up a council of some sort people can vote for, and let their decisions control the general things, unless they try to pull something stupid and turn towards populism or try to collapse the universal healthcare, education system, free housing or the universal income system, or some shit like that, and my benevolent ass has to step in to correct the course. Vaccine the entire population against every possible thing. Figure out best farming methods and enforce strict laws about animal welfare (this fucking utopia will be for animals as well). Get people behind strong workers unions. Tax the shit out of anyone hoarding too much of our community resources.

And use the ten years to develop nukes. Then after the decade I will threaten the invaders with nuclear war and if that halts the attack, abolish my seat and give the powers to the council system that’s been prepared for it, surrender myself to the enemy in exchange for a better deal for the island or let my citizens execute me for a political show to get better terms, and then let the citizens do whatever they want with their country. And if the nuke thread doesn’t work, I’ll just nuke the shit out of the invaders and let the whole world burn, since that’s what they wished for and I’m a crazy dictator.

  • Indeed, the basic user experience has been turned to total shit. I never liked win10, but it worked in day-to-day use without any issues, wanna browse web or write some text? Sure thing, no problem. Diving any deeper… ohhh boy. But that has been an issue with all the latest win versions so that’s not really new.

But win11’s been fully, visibly garbage from the start. The forced upgrades from win10 without asking. Lacking simple features that have been part of windows for ages (like moving the task bar and wordpad). There’s unnecessary bugs constantly, like the task bar images randomly changing sizes even during usage, the text on desktop shortcuts being unreadable because the fucker wants to remove shadows and turn the text to match color of the background (instead of having contrast against it), not to mention the goddamn sidebar that you can’t turn off and will randomly jump out. At least you can turn the trash news feed off from it - if you can get around the bug of the settings menu button for it not appearing…

Just the fact that even as a totally basic user you will notice all this crap is completely unacceptable. I’d switch all my systems to linux in a blink but infuriatingly I’m stuck for now.

  • There’s plenty of positive advice here, so I’ll write some negative things. If you feel like the therapy is not working for you, as people have pointed out, change therapists. Go through multiple ones, don’t give up!

The reality still is though, that therapy isn’t a magical cure that fixes everything. Depending of your problems, it might not work no matter how many therapists you go through, no matter how many years of therapy you do. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try, no - absolutely do try. It also doesn’t mean the problem is you, sometimes things just don’t go how people say they should.

Therapy has not worked for me; it can’t fix my shitty physical health, and it can’t fix how unfit to society I am because of my autism. My friend did ten years of therapy, but still killed themselves. There’s no cure for everything, not everyone gets a happy ending. But maybe you do; you never know unless you try! That trying is a huge step you can be proud of taking, no matter what.

  • It’s basically because the name you used to have doesn’t really matter, it tells nothing about who you are. Some ask it out of curiosity, which is invasive even if it’s innocent (often that name reminds you about things you’d rather not remember), but some ask it just so they can use it to misgender you, and you can basically never know for sure is it malicious or not. Even people you thought were your friends might use the name later to hurt you if they get angry or some shit. So the best course of action is to never reveal your deadname to new people you meet. It’s gone, it’s past, it doesn’t matter and nobody should care.

Even if you are cis-passing (nobody can tell you’re trans just by looking), being trans means you have to either hide parts of you, or you are kind of fighting a constant battle of people reacting to you being trans. Even if you’re in a position good enough for it to not be that malicious, it will wear you down eventually. You might think you’re strong enough, that you can casually talk about your past and the name you had, you can take it! You’re not a victim! And sure, maybe you can keep that up for couple years if you’re lucky, but it gets old fast, and it will wear you down. Telling your deadname is just giving more free ammo to people who are more likely to shoot at you than you’d like
