We had a guy at the place I worked a few jobs ago who did nothing but slowly single-finger peck out regexes all day. His job title was “SEO Guru”.

100%. I’m trying to swear less just to avoid the punctuation-level swearing that feels childish to me. But replacement swear words that have the same sentiment feel even more childish and pointless to me.
We even have sea unicorns, land unicorns don’t seem too far fetched.
TheFunkyMonk@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone have book recommendations for balancing life and media consumption?5·2 months agoMaybe not exactly this, but I recently read How To Break Up With Your Phone and really loved it. Short read, and even if you don’t follow the whole 30-day routine she outlines (I didn’t), it’s full of great prompts/thoughts on more responsibly looking at your consumption habits and I came away with several practices that have made a big difference for me.

I remembered being an avid reader as a kid but could barely make it through a book or two a year, and struggled to maintain any form of attention span. I forced myself to read more for about the first month, then I got addicted to it again and ended up reading 42 books that year. I’m very conscious now about pretty much always having my devices in some form of focus mode/app time limits and prioritizing focus/reading time. I feel much better.

They assured me it would be added later. This is exactly what I expected to happen.
Same. I feel like I’d look so weird with hair now.

We’re hearing it was a sick ostrich.
You should really consider professional help (if you want to change). Reading your comments, venting to random people on Lemmy isn’t going to change anything for you.
Disqualifying yourself (and others) before you even try to meet someone isn’t going to help. Just try to talk to people and show genuine interest in what they have to say, you’d be surprised.
It happens. I met my last partner when I went to the bar to read my book and she commented on my Kindle.
For me, it’s really just a lack of actual remorse or effort to fix things. As long as they’re willing to demonstrate they recognize what they did and will work to be better (and it’s not a recurring pattern), we’re cool.
